Xastir, the APRS client for Linux now supports OSM maps(http://www.openstreetmap.org/). This good news as certainly in the UK maps have been difficult to get hold of and often awful when zoomed in.
It's early days yet - but if you download the latest CVS install (v1.9.9something) the map choice is easy and looks very good everywhere OSM maps have some detail.
There is help - here is the link for Ubuntu 10.4 (which worked fine for me).
