Hi Bob and all,
Thanks for the explanation, now we KNOW somebody was out to get you. That
guy at the factory checked the invoice, saw your name and switched all
the markings. OK, so you're replacing a tribander with a monobander so
what are you going to do about 20 & 15M? Those bands are getting hot too
so wazzup widat?
For what it's worth, when I operated K2PG during the last solar max I
used a 10-15-20M tribander up 60' and worked the world with the Collins
KWS-1 off, never even warmed up the tubes. The beam was essential, with
the sloping V the Aussies echoed so much I couldn't understand a word,
the beam gave me a choice of which path to use too. The Pacific, Japan in
particular having more hams squeezed together in one place than any other
(;->) was storming in on 10 until near midnight and on 15 into the wee
hours. It got to the point I was swatting flies while tuning for those
rare ones like Viet Nam, got them too. I just hope you're not making a
mistake, even though the tribander couldn't make up it's mind whether it
wanted to resonate on 10 or 11M it still "blew smoke" and was a killer on
the other bands.
"Put the frog in the river; you'll have the greenies after you..."
So where do you think I got it from in the first place? Hey man, frogs
ARE greenies, only your kangaroo is blue. Antenna pole? Now is that a
J-pole antenna or a Polish erector? <DOH!>
