That's the problem Warren you just DON'T get it. If I put the 6 metre beam
on the tower under the 2 metre and 70 cm I can turn it instead of it
being fixed to a chimney. No, you flew right past it.6 metre signals come
from the east and the north so I need to be able to turn the beam.
A G5RV is a 40 metre dipole at 20 and 15? Wrong. It is not.It works quite
well on those bands.
Further point which you missed.By sacrificing the tribander which I did
not need I had someone come and get on the roof and do all the work. It
was worth it for me. At 88 I don't climb roofs any more. One thing you did
get right - I did get those bands out of my system 40 years ago and on CW
what's more.If you want a sack full of QSL cards, some quite rare, come
and get them.
I think probably my experience on HF exceeds yours.
Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.

>The main thrust of my question is so obvious you flew right past it.
Let's start at the beginning, basically you replaced a 10M beam with a
10M beam which is illogical enough but you sacrificed 15M and 20M in the
process... I just don't get it.

............
>a G5RV may work on those bands but is no
better than a 40M dipole (pretty lousy) since that's what it is under the
fancy label. IMO you took a big step down but oh well, you got those
bands out of your system 40 years ago..............?
