I think the best is the keyspan units
they make a 1 and 4 port unit and work w/ mac, pc's etc etc

Hello,
Can someone help me about my track system?
My LVB interface still keep tracking the satellite after LOS, I looked at
Rotator Setup where you have to put MINIMUM ELEVATION TO TRACK and I set to
"1". but NOVA and LVB interface still keep tracking the satellite active.
Anyone have the same problem than me? Can you help me please?
Thank you so much,

During the 1948Z pass today I made an effort to determine Castor's
(KD4HBO-1) frequency - it appears to be near 145.828 MHz before Doppler
correction is applied. Using that frequency, with Object G's keps, the
discriminator stayed centered during the entire pass, and received 3 good
packets. (Pollux seems to be at 145.826 MHz here.)

For those that unfortunately lack equipment today,
and read all our enthousiastic emails;
Here is how the ANDE-2 satellites (Castor & Pollux) sound at 145.825 MHZ FM:
http://www.pa3guo.com/ande2_demo_02aug2009.mp3
Pollux: at T=1 and T=28 seconds,
Castor: at T=14 and T=44 seconds.
When the mp3 file is replayed, MixW will decode the 2 Pollux
and 2 Castor frames as indicated in this screenshot:
http://www.pa3guo.com/ande2_demo_02aug2009.jpg
If you have MixW installed, you can play the mp3 in any player and
decode the data realtime, just as if you are a ground station yourself !
Cool ? Certainly !
Next step: connect an antenna to your 145 MHz FM radio and you're live.
Final step: insert your data in the APRS network and you help the team !

Hey everyone,
Dave, K4DLG, has asked me to post the following because he is unable to get
posts through to the BB.
>From Dave:
____________________________________
I just want to take a moment to thank a number of folks that have
been adding much enjoyment to my satellite operations lately.
Wednesday I found an envelope in my mailbox with a bunch of QSLs
from Jim (ND9M) confirming QSOs in 13 different grid squares with 6
of them "new ones" for me along the East coast from Delaware to
Florida. I recently logged 5 new squares with contacts with Patrick
(WD9EWK) in AZ and UT. A few weeks ago I received some QSLs from
Doug (KD8CAO) providing me some new contacts into upper MI. In
addition there has been Gail (KB0RZD) adding to my collection in the
midwest with many new grids, and John (K8YSE) with his trip to DE
helping those that needed DE for WAS or just for an additional grid
worked. Rob (KD4ZGW) is always "popping up" somewhere in the US and
always willing to provide a contact to anyone making the trip. Last
year Allen (N5AFV) provided me with some great contacts to some very
wet grid squares while operating /MM from a cruise ship. There have
been others which I have missed, but none the less their efforts are
appreciated.
These guys armed with their laptops, GPS units, handheld antennas,
radios, and maps take off into remote country and areas to provide us
with the enjoyment of working a new grid. Then when they return they
have to face a pile of QSL requests from folks like me wanting to
confirm our new contacts. They spend a lot of time and money with
nothing in return except the thanks from those of us that have
benefited from their efforts.
There have been other posts recently publicly thanking these guys but
I just wanted to chime in and add my thanks for some great contacts
with some great guys!
I just took a break from writing this note to go work AO-27. I
didn't expect much because of the short pass and the fact that it was
a low pass to the East of me, however, much to my surprise and good
fortune I made a contact with Nick (KB1RVT) working from FN54! Thanks
Nick, you made my day!
Guys, I just want to add my sincere thanks and appreciation to your
efforts and desire to help enhance the amateur radio hobby for a
great many of us that enjoy working the "birds"!
I hope someday the conditions will allow me to pack up a radio and
trek off into some area where I also can provide some contacts in a
new area and provide some QSLs for others. However, in the meantime,
thanks to those of you that are currently spending time to better
the hobby for all of us!
Thanks!
73,
Dave - K4DLG

I too have tried to help Dave with his BB problem including sending his
message of help directly to the List Administrator - on the basis that
you have had to post a message for him Tim, I guess the problem still
exists (unfortunately!)

You have, of course, more front-line experience in this question than
I, Bob, but I tend to analyze the situation in a manner that avoids
shame on anyone's part. As I see it, Indian hams are in the position
USA hams were in during the 70s: they have a launch program that is
not fully market-driven, and a launch agency which sees its role in
part as promoting the dignity of the country. In these circumstances,
assisting an effort like AMSAT India makes sense to government, etc.
And just as the rest of the ham world expressed its gratitude and
admiration of the US in the 70's, so we should express our gratitude
and admiration for India today. (Which is easy to do, given their
excellent achievements so far.)

Under the circumstances as described above, AMSAT-DL is playing a
pretty nice hand, I think, by tying 3E with the Mars project and
appealing to the research interests of the country. I agree that
should AMSAT India mount a fund-raising campaign, it would be an
attractive proposition for hams who are hoping to find more
communications satellites in orbit.

This is frustrating, and I think it is great that AMSAT is getting out
from under all this, with any luck in time for ITAR to be relaxed
under the new US administration. However, I think the most important
thing we can do is ensure that this effort will provide ISRO and India
in general with ample positive response from around the globe. I know
that is what our government would hope for in Canada if we were able
to mount a project like this locally.

Some people misread my poor prose as blaming Europe and NA for ITAR. I
was commenting on Hamsat II requesting HEO and if they get a ride from
ISRO, it will be good for amateur radio but reflects badly on the rest
of us who have had multiple programs over more than a decade with no
success at all to show for it.
ONLY THEN do I introduce ITAR and indeed, the USA is 100% culpable for
this mess. But what do you expect from a country that elects a chimp
mime of his handlers twice?

Even if we endorse the view of universal messaging APRS should not be
the underlying protocol. Rather then bolt something on to an OSI layer 4
(-ish) protocol, lets approach this with no preconceptions and start
fresh. Heck, if we want to reuse something, let's tear a page from
Cisco's book and implement something that does IP since almost
everything except my toaster speaks IP. Anything else relegates our
hobby to the digital stone age.
ACP is a good step in the right direction. The fact that it understands
that bits are bits and doesn't give a hoot about what's on top of it
allows us to get back into relevance again.

AO-51 is in 'normal' mode with both 70cm TXs operational.
FM repeater V/U
Uplink 145.920 MHz FM
Downlink 435.300 MHz FM
FM 9k6 digital
Downlink 435.150 MHz FM
I uploaded the RX task for the SQRX receiver tonight and depending on the
telemetry I get tomorrow morning, I expect to turn on the digital
L band uplink on 1268.700 MHz.
TXA (digital) power at 590 mW
TXB (analog) power at 620 mW

The first team that puts a linear transponder on board one of these,
wins! (And I want William Leijenaar PE1RAH on my team ...)

Seriously, if this is for real, I think AMSAT should get at the front
of the train and provide hardware, or hardware design, for those who
plan to use it.
