Dear Amsat India,
Today I received the VO-52 award, thank you very much for this realy nice
award, very attractive.
It will be framed and get the most beautifull place in my shack.
Thanks again to all those who made it possible.
Sure I will continue using the VO-52. The dutch transponder was made here in
my city, Venlo-Holland.

Hello All,
I can confirm that the bird is still down, nothing heard during the pass of
17:41 UTC (Orbit #26.679 + 5 minutes) almost over my QTH in IN70jv.

Morning,
The 435.150 MHz TLM downlink was on at the 1308 UTC pass over the US. The
data shows about 1 watt on the downlink. Progress is being made.

Hi,
Thanks for reading I have a burning Question?
Why is there so little activity on VO-52 and FO-29? These are the birds
that make it possible to make QSO's from Europe to the States and other
continents.
During the pass from July 27 2009 10:34 UTC, nothing not a single soul :(
Yesterday around the same time, again nothing ...
Is there no interrest in these birds, they're strong and have a proper
footprint.

AO-51 analog operation will be off the air for a few days while I reload the
software. You can of course copy the telemetry during this time.
Normally we have three stations spread across both coasts that can upload
which allows a fairly quick return to normal operation.
This time there is only one station (due to a number of factors) to do the
upload.
Please be patient, we will have the satellite operational as soon as possible.

i run satpc32 but only with a ft-857d half duplex and manual rortor control,
very soon i will get a different ssb radio for the down link and auto rotor

Maybe there's someone in those states, or someone who can quickly
drive to them, who can help him with his WAS award via satellite. I
know I have worked hams in both states over the past few months,
plus there are probably others that are not far away that could put
them on the air. Even for those who already have confirmations with
those states, the grids that come on the air from those places could
be of interest to others as well.
Thanks to two traveling hams, I was able to finally work Delaware
twice in the past few weeks after never hearing a peep from there in
almost 3 1/2 years on the birds. When I returned from my road trip
last week, I had a QSL in the mailbox for one of those two QSOs,
and I am off to meet a local card checker to review my application
for a satellite WAS award tomorrow evening. :-)

Hi Patrick,
I've been in touch with him to provide information on the stations I'm aware
of.
Congratulations on WAS!!!! Good for you. I doubt seriously there are too many
Satellite WAS awards earned via LEO satellites exclusively. That's quite an
accomplishment.
Speaking of which ... I'd like to formally request BK29 as one of your rare
grids to activate on the next expedition..... ;-)
73 and congrats again,

David (KC7USS),
N1RCN is a regular on the FM birds and he is the
most active Rhode Island Station. Contact him,
his callsign at amsat.org
KB1RVT/1 is now in FN54 spending a week or so in
Acadia National Park. He is active on all of the
FM birds. That's your best bet for Maine although
others like N1AIA have been heard recently.

Tim,
Your wish may come true. I was going to wait a few more months but I will let
the "cat out of the bag" now.;)
I am planning to go to Hawaii next March, 2010. I have not made travel
arrangements yet but current plans are to visit Oahu, Kauai and Big Island for
my annual scuba vacation. If I go, I should be there for about 2 weeks.
Possible Grids are: BL01, BL02, BL11, BL20, BK29 and time permitting with
some nudging BK19. Sorry no Maui this time, I was there 2 years ago.
I would appreciate hearing back from anybody who has worked from these grids
or any advice for this Dxpedition due to the short passes.
I enjoyed so much working from EK99 earlier in the year, that I am seriously
considering doing another expedition to some exotic grids like BL and BK.

Guys,
?
I want to use an FT-847 with a mast mounted SSB preamp and a single feedline
antenna (Cushcraft A270-10S) that I already have mounted on my tower.
?
Can I send the DC for the preamp up through the coax and still use a duplexer?
?
I have checked the continuity of a Comet CF-4160 duplexer and the 1.3-170MHz
side appears to be isolated from the 440 side.? Since there is direct
continuity on the 1.3-170MHz side of the duplexer I would run the DC for the
preamp up that "side."
?
I really don't want to blow up my 847 by doing something foolish so any
thoughts, cautions etc. welcomed.

HI PATRICK...
ACTUALLY YOU ARE CORRECT...WE SHOULDN'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE FORMAT ON
INQUIRIES ON THE BB BUT SHOULD DIRECT OUR ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS ASKED...
I LIVE IN MASSACHUSETTS BUT AM UNABLE TO PROVIDE CONTACTS FROM THE TWO
ADJOINING STATES AT THIS TIME...
I HOWEVER AM ABLE TO SENT RTTY ART THROUGH THE BB SO THAT EVERYONE CAN ENJOY
SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PAST 40 YEARS OF TTY...
I CURRENTLY HAVE BETTER REGUARD FOR MY FELLOW HAMS THAN TO SEND MESSAGES IN
ALL CAPS...WHICH SEEMS TO IRRITATE MANY OF THEM...BUT IF IT BECOMES A
RENEWED TREND, I DON'T WANT TO BE THE LAST ONE TO JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON.
I APPRECIATE THAT YOU TOOK THE TIME TO POINT OUT THAT I WAS POSSIBLY DOING
SOMETHING INCORRECTLY BY SUGGESTING THAT THE ORIGINAL POSTER WAS MAYBE
PERHAPS BREAKING CONVENTION.
I APPRECIATE ALL OF THE EFFORTS YOU PUT INTO ACTIVATING NEW GRIDS PLUS THE
EFFORT YOU PUT INTO CORRECTING OPERATORS WHO DON'T COLOR INSIDE YOUR LINES.

It should work fine. The only thing to check is that the center conductor of
the coax is NOT at DC ground. That will blow the trransistor used to switch
the DC on or off in the menu.
I blew mine this year at Field Day on the 2M side. I had it connected to a
multisection helical filter, and didn't check before I powered up the radio.
I'm going to run a separate power lead for the preamps from now on!
DC up the coax is nice until you do something stupid like I did.

Hi Nick,
We anticipate that almost all (we forgot to load the tape into the machine
for one...) the presentations will be available for viewing at the batc.tv
website after they have properly edited.
Hopefully this work shud be completed within 10 days or so.
The slides in pdf format will also be available separately - "pls wait for
further announcements"
