Hi
I'm trying to set up www.amsat.dk so that it can display the contents of
the log files generated by the satellites. I have the alogdisp and
blogdisp programs from the amsat.org SW repositories but they appear not
to use the correct structure definitions.
Could somebody please supply me with the current structure.
Thanks in advance.

See this entry in the mailing list FAQ:
http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/tools/maillist/faq.php#06
Here's what it says:
>It's not possible for the mailing lists to contain exactly what you find
interesting. If we are to share information freely, all subscribers must be
prepared to cope with a certain amount of traffic they find boring or useless.
>
>Sometimes it becomes a clear problem, with one subject generating so much
traffic that it becomes a burden on a more general mailing list. In those
cases, a new mailing list can be created to make it possible for only those
who are interested to receive the information. However, there is a practical
limit.

At the risk of getting flamed - I am quite happy to see the occasional
telemetry postings on this bb.
Mike DK3WN does a great job with FREE software which you can download off his
web site.
It has software for telemetry decode for just about all of the current
satellites.
Software is easy to load and use, and works. Give it a try, telemetry can be
fun.
If you want an up to the minute quick overview of which sats are being
heard/worked go to KD5QGR's site http://oscar.dcarr.org
You can post your reports there too.

TV Technology Email Newsletters :: Doug Lung's RF Report
NatGeo to Use TV Frequencies for Wildlife Sensing, Imaging
by Doug Lung, April 11, 2008
The latest list of FCC experimental license grants, covering the period from
Jan. 1, 2008, to Feb. 1, 2008, includes a license allowing use of VHF and UHF
TV frequencies for wildlife sensing and imaging within Washington, D.C.
License WE2XMB allows National Geographic to operate in the 54???72, 76???88,
174???216, 420???432, 433.92, 470???608, 614???806 and 902???928 MHz bands
Ham Radio operators around Boulder, Colo., may hear unusual signals in the 2
meter and 440 MHz bands. The Colorado Space Grant Consortium at the University
of Colorado in Boulder received a license to operate in the 144???146 and
435???440 MHz bands for testing the atmospheric neutral density explorer.
As previously covered in RF Report, the FCC has been granting experimental
licenses to nuclear power plant operators allowing them to use broadcast TV
spectrum for communications around nuclear reactors. In the latest list,
Nuclear Management Company LLC was allowed to use 470???806 MHz at the Prairie
Island Nuclear Generating Plant in Welch, Minn.
Boeing was granted an experimental license to use Ku-band satellite
frequencies for testing a Maritime Mobile Satellite Earth terminal in the
continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S territories and international
waters.
See the latest list of FCC experimental license grants for the complete list.

Hi William, PE1RAH
It would be very interesting to know from you if your Mode-UV transponder
http://www.qsl.net/pe1rah/p3e_mode-uv.htm
http://www.qsl.net/pe1rah/p3e_mode-uv2.htm
will fly or not on P3-E and eventually when.
For your information the Mode-UV indian transponder aboard of VO-52
is working very well and at present time VO-52 along with the old
OSCAR-7 is the only satellite with a linear FDMA transponder to be used
for CW and SSB so that I hope in a succesfull performance of Delphi-C3
I would like to know from you why your Mode-UV dutch transponder abord
VO-52 is not switched ON periodically with the Mode-UV indian transponder.
Congratulations for your job.
Tanks for your replay

Hi Domenico,
On the transponder readiness review meeting last year it was decided to
fly the SDX (Software Defined Transponder) for the UV-Mode.
One of the reasons was, that this would allow us to have LEILA and
STELLA functionality against the Alligators problem.
more here:
http://www.amsat-
dl.org//index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=139&Itemid=97
The SDX design by Howard Long G6LVB was also described in the AMSAT-DL
journal...

I guess the Colorado license mentioned is for the Amateur Radio Hermes CubeSat
which IARU have co-ordinated on 437.425 MHz.

Hi folks:
One of the Amsatnet.com Podcasts mentioned demo videos by KI4HXT and N4HY.
The URLs were supposed to have been on the amsatnet.com page, but I can't
find them there. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of these files? I
have a demo coming up two weeks, and I have about an hour and a half to
fill. A good demo video will set up my own demo quite nicely.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,

Greetings from the North West
I would like to suggest (may have been done in the past) we establish a
unofficial DX watering hole on AO-7. Given the very limited time to just find
footprint edge to edge contacts. The middle of the passband (145-155), is
usually filled with "local" cw/ssb qso's. How does 145.957-145.960 sound as
our DX "hot spot"? Mika OH8MBN usually hangs out there, I have talked to him
with elevations 2-4 degrees each way. With this "unofficial" DX watering
hole we (I) can be challenged to "stretch" the footprint.
comments/suggestions?

Hi Ken,

The original message that mentioned these videos can be found at:

Perhaps http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/information/videoNews.php has other
video topics you may be able to use during your presentation.
Also on-line is a 4-page tutorial, "Working Ham Sats with Your HT":

Hope these help!

Hi Mike,
I own one because of the following:
Six members of our North Shores Amateur Radio club and I made tests
comparing the three major suppliers.
HRO loaned me the radio, and it never left my house!
We used my antenna system (AZEL yagis, verticals and quadrifilar)
using coax switching for an immediate comparison. Testing was done
on AO40, and several LEO's available at the time...
Owners of the other two brands declared their next one would be ICOM...
I know nothing about Trx-manager, I use IT and SatPC32...

How does 145.957-145.960 sound as our DX "hot spot"?
Good idea, Bob for those of you that can take advantage of the "low"
LEO's we have left!
FO29 with its altitude gave us a shot here in San Diego, but unless
some DXpedition goes to Siberia it wouldn't do us much good!!
I get on O7 and VO52, and often find no takers...
From where are you getting competition up there??
