Hi Everyone,
Thanks to everyone who has been listening to CP6 from around the world.
We've have already received many packets into our More dBs database which
can be found at
http://moredbs.atl.calpoly.edu/
Please look in the next couple of weeks for the packets in a parsed format
on the website (Dave is hurried working to add this functionality). We
appreciate all the enthusiasm and will post TLE updates as we receive them
from NORAD at
http://moredbs.atl.calpoly.edu/satellites/CP6
We are also usually in the CubeSat IRC chatroom (hosted on 'irc.freenode.org',
room '#cubesat') if anyone wants to chat. Thanks again!

Hello,
thanks to some of you I could add quite some more interesting recordings to
our "Sounds from Space" collection of various satellites. You can find the
audio files at www.dd1us.de
What I am especially missing are recordings of:
AMSAT OSCAR 2 ... AMSAT OSCAR 8
Radio Sputnik 2 ... Radio Sputnik 6
ISKRA 1 ... ISKRA 3
If someone of you (most likely he needs to be a real oldtimer) has some
recordings of these satellites, please drop me a note a dd1us@xxxxx.xxx.
I can also handle tapes and cassettes ... whatever you might have should be
ok.
Many thanks in advance

Hi
A question for FT817 owners.
Is there a hidden menu option or some other way in software of preventing the
radio going into transmit.

I have been following this for a couple of years, either putting off
projects it will make obsolete, or acquiring goodies such as a GPS
disciplined 10 MHz oscillator which will make frequency drift and
calibration errors a thing of the past. There was a false start on the
transverters, and some delays due to more pressing projects such as the
Flex-3000, but it looks as if the wait will be well worth it. And our very
own N4HY has been keeping a watchful eye on this to make certain they get it
right. ;)

One would assume that anyone submitting an entry will have the QSOs
logged. You can work out the order in which a batch of entries hit the
magic number by looking at the date and time of the 20th QSO, and if
required get a copy of the logbook page and QSL card.

My two cents worth.
I fully agree with Tim's original response in that the numbers should be
as accurate as possible and not drawn "lottery style".
I also think that Bruce should maybe have not said anything at all as
the potential implosion and current bickering about this could have been
avoided by Bruce not saying anything and we would all have been
blissfully unaware and got on with life :-D
Nate's comments about volunteering (as well as Barry's comments about
the same at the AMSAT Forum at Dayton this past weekend) bring up
another issue though.
Has the volunteer page on the website been fixed yet and for the (at
least) three members (including myself) that's I know of, who have
offered our services over the last 6 or so months, had our information
stored?; will it be actioned and how many others have volunteered to
help but heard nothing in return or been the victim of the websites
broken links.
Yes I know the website is maintained by a volunteer, sort of a a catch
22 isn't it?

#500
We already know not all the members of AMSAT or the satellite community
read the messages on the AMSAT-BB. You all are assuming that every
member of AMSAT has a computer and email. Unfortunately there are some
that do not. If someone can answer how to give the postal submissions
the same possibility of receiving number 500 as the email entries, I
would be happy to do it in that way. I only go to the post office
regularly once a week on my day off (tues/wed).
Pulling the mail out of the box will create a random order. Did the
postal person place the first one on the left or the right and did they
do it the same way the next day or did they shove it between the ones
there already? I can't use the post mark to determine which arrived
first because one letter could have taken 2 days to reach me and another
5 days. I will have no way of knowing when the postal person put the
letter in my box.
Now, I have the mail out of box and am walking to the car. One or two
letters might slip out of my hand in the parking lot and placed either
on top of the pile or the bottom not knowing where they actually were.
Then on the trip home, someone might stop short in front of me and some
of the mail on the seat slides on to the floor. There would be a random
selection for the person that gets number 500 simply from the events of
getting the mail to my house.
What if I send my daughter to pick up the mail and she comes home and
there is a Priority Mail notice that has to be signed for. That person
might have sent it in perfect time to be number 500 and now I have to go
back to the post office to pick it up, unfortunately, I processed all
the awards before going back and he now gets number 532.
As those sending email submissions are date and time stamped, where do I
place someone's u.s. mail submission when I only go to the post office
once a week? Does that person go to the end of the line because it did
not get into my house until after all the emails were received or is it
assumed to have been received first and go to the top of the pile?
The world is not perfect and I am just trying to make it fair for everyone.

Elecraft was taking orders for an internal 2m module for their K3 at
Dayton, I ordered one. There are several un-used headers on the modules main
board. In typical Elecraft fashion, it was hinted that other modules will
follow. We will see. I plan on using the K3 for EME and meteor scatter this
coming winter, but if I can operate sats with it I could sell my aging
FT-847, TS-2000, and IC-910.

okay, moving on to more pressing matters and returning this channel to
its regularly scheduled program. #500 will be selected as sequentially
as possible with the post office randomly delivering the mail as they
usually do and mahana is out of a job in the selection process.
hummm.... do i accept an application based on when i receive it or when
it is paid for. what if the check was forgotten in the original mail and
they send it in another envelope, which postmark do i use? what if
payment bounces? ....never mind, lets not go there.

Just wading into the discussion late.
The FLEX-5000 and K3 both have independent dual receiver options so
making a satellite radio is a software issue. Write radio control
program and they can do it. Dual-polarity eme reception is not a
slam-dunk, however. I still want a K3 but Santa might not bring
it. MY aging FT-847 still works. A dual SDR-IQ would be nice, also.
