Hello all,
Well, glad to report that despite the short time we spent in the Canary Island
ZW8BBC Dx pedition and the adverse conditions due to heavy rain that has been
facing the northeast of Brazil, where some cities are in public calamity, the
contacts via satellites were a success. This was the first DXpedition we know
that here in Brazil that sought to work the various ham satellites. Certainly
with the knowledge that first "Satellite DXpedition" include in the next
Dxpeditions contacts via satellites. Thanks for all and especially the AMSAT
to help in disseminating the DXpedition. The log of contacts are available in
spacesat.blogspot.com and soon available on the official blog, visit
zw8bbc.blogspot.com.
Gud Dx and best 73s

AMSAT 2009 COLLOQUIUM- URGENT UPDATE
Earlier this year AMSAT-UK announced its intention to hold its Annual
Colloquium in
2009 at the University of Manchester over the weekend of July 24-26th.
Unfortunately it has not proved possible to produce a programme including the
food
and accommodation at rates that would match or be more economic than those of
previous years.
Therefore, to ensure the best possible event for the largest number of
visitors the
venue has been changed to the Holiday Inn Hotel at Guildford - this is very
close to
the Surrey University where the event has been held previously.
The 2009 AMSAT Colloquium will now commence at 10am on Saturday July 25th and
close
at approximately 4pm on the Sunday. Accommodation will be available, at
special
rates, on the Saturday evening and also on the Friday and Sunday.
The new venue will enable visitors to attend at a significantly lower cost
than last
year and experience greatly improved accommodation.
The two days will be filled with presentations covering all the latest amateur
satellite happenings and developments.
The new GB4FUN trailer will also be in attendance and available to demonstrate
satellite operations.
An informal social gathering is planned for those who are able to arrive on
the
Friday evening.
Full details of the booking arrangements will be made available shortly on the
AMSAT-UK web site, www.uk.amsat.org.

Shucks. You beat me. I was gonna brag about being on a charter
Navy Flight DC-9 and the pilot saying... "Look out the left side
of the aircraft and you will see the Concord passing us at twice
the speed!"... And then a few minuets later... "Look out the
right side of the aircraft and you will see the Shuttle
Launch!"...
We were due west of Kennedy and looking down at the launch pad
at about a 45 degree angle. What a view!

We were out on the playground in Fort Pierce with 100 kids to watch the
Challenger launch. What a horribly difficult day. I haven't been able to watch
another until the one last March.
