I am saddened to report that Dave Toth, VE3GYQ, was hospitalized and had
the tender care of a serious neurosurgeon. Dave, being the mild
mannered, tame individual we all know and love, has managed to
extricate himself from the clutches of the hospital and is resting at
home. He will have to undergo some pretty tough medical treatments but
he is a fighter like almost none of the rest of us can understand. He
is watching BSG, moaning about going to Dayton, had his son tell me he
was going with me and that is that. My plan is to take him to Dayton to
at least the Saturday so he can be at the SDR forum.

Dave is ambulatory, can get on his computer, and I know would love
messages. But he is under absolutely strict orders to rest for now, so
please email only. I've made arrangements to keep up with him via his
son and Dave is absolutely insistent that if he can stand up and walk, I
am taking him to Dayton.

What a HARD HEAD!

We love you Dave, take care.

Bob

Kent and everyone,

For quite a while now Bill Hook and I were the only people working on the
Journal to get it into your hands. BTW - Bill does a yeoman job with editing.
I was the only one trying to obtain articles for publication and due to a lot
of factors I wasn't doing much of a job and was having poor success getting
articles in. You've probably seen a few of my pleas on the BB. I was the
production guy trying to do sales (selling people on why they should write for
the Journal). Thus, the Journal has been running late since I had nothing to
publish since I'm not much of a sales guy. Now we have two more folks helping
us and we've been able to scare up some more content. So I hope this gets
better.

Usually I send out a note to the BB when the issue goes to the printer since
we have been late releasing issues. I was just trying to keep everyone
informed. This time I didn't do that. Just forgot to be honest. However, it is
in the mail and you should get it soon if you don't have it already. The last
issue was Jan/Feb 2009.

I am working on the Mar/Apr 2009 issue right now, which is a lot sooner in the
schedule than in the recent past. The goal is to get the Journal to the
printer the first week of the even months so that members can get the issue
sometime during the second month posted on the cover. For example: I would
hope you will see the Mar/Apr issue sometime in April. As soon as possible in
the month would be better.

Layout of the Journal is a one man job and it is a LOT of work. When articles
are lacking it is just that much more frustrating. But, with JoAnne and Tim
helping out (see your last issue cover - upper right) things should get
better.

I'll continue to send out notices when the issue is uploaded to the printer.
After that it is out of my hands and into the rain, sleet snow and
hail........

73,

Ed

Ed and all,

Thanks again for the responses. In no way did I mean anything negative
towards AMSAT, the Journal or those involved.

Members of my local club had been talking about receiving there issues of
QST and two weeks later I still had not received mine. I sent an email to
ARRL and received a quick reply to notify them if I had not received it with
in the next few weeks. It arrived two days later. For what ever reason I
received that magazine two weeks later than others in the same city. One
even lives two blocks from me.

When I noticed that I hadn't received any AMSAT Journal issue more recent
than the November/December issue, I began to wonder if this issue was
repeating itself. Thus my posting to the list. Hopefully just my inquiring
will prompt the issue to show up in my mailbox in the next few days. <grin>
