Hi All,

Ok, any comments on any Moonraker antennas?

http://www.moonrakerukltd.com/Amateur-Radio/Beam-Antennas/Crossed-Yagi

I am looking at getting the 70CMS and a 2Metre versions, but cannot find
any reviews, other then they are a "CB Antenna" maker type comments?

What antenna's have you guys got for a crossed yagi?

Should be great STS+ISS viewing tonite for SouthEastern US at least...

Check http://www.heavens-above.com or http://nasa.gov for more detail:
Here is N.Alabama starting just after 7pm out of the WNW,
up to 30 degrees in the NW, and then down towards the North ...

Should be really bright !!!
Enjoy /;^)

Could also be a great view here in Las Vegas, NV and the southwest around
0134z. Sunset here is about 0151z but if bright enough it should be
visable.

The 00:03 pass of ISS/Shuttle over FM07 was just grand. My wife and
myself had a great view from our back deck. You fellows were very
active as usual. I listened on the D7 kenwood and the rubber duck
antenna. It was almost solid copy continuous. What a show! 73's <<

I just got in from trying to listen in on AO-27s beacon, with no luck.

Mode S down link sounds great. I almost had the bird to myself I caught a
station with NUK then nothing. Rather tricky tracking the fast moving 51 with
a 3 foot dish and chasing doppler all by hand. Nice to know my old AO-40
(sobsob) S band stuff still works! Get out that "old" S band gear!

Yea, I've been working it since it was turned on Sunday nite...until Tuesday
night.. The signals are fantastic, even with a small antenna. I think I
popped the front end of my converter, working some local FM stuff on 2 meters.
Think I'm going to put a shorted quarterwave stub on the front end of my
converter once I get it fixed.

Bob,

I wanted to listen in but that was all I could do. My AO-40 S band
downconverter comes out on 2M and I believe that most others also had 2M
output. I would have needed another radio and was rapidly running out of
hands. Now if it were possible to run U/S for AO-51 that would probably get
a lot of AO-40 S band equipment out of storage.

With many thanks to the help received from Alan, WA4SCA and Drew, KO4MA,
I have been Mode S on AO-51 since Monday and have been having a blast
using a BBQ dish "down converted" into my 910. SatPC32 is taking care of
the doppler. Uplink is via my 706MKIIG which is just parked on 145.880
with no adjustments made during the pass. Really strong signals received
and no more difficult than pushing the button and talking! I hope V/S
gets scheduled every month. I am thinking of buying one of Bob's helix
fed dishes to even out the deep fades but its quite easy to time my
talking around the fading issue!

Hello
???We have two Yeasu 5400 AZ EL rotators with the associated controllers and
the same problem. Both are about 15 years old and generally work.
??There is a procedure to set it up that calls for the operator to drive the
AZ and EL to the 360 and 180 to set the full scale deflections. We can do this
and see the required 4.5VDC on the two appropriated pins in the back. When we
drive the AZ and EL back to zero, it is typically short about 10 degrees. We
have attempted this adjustment several times to find the happy medium between
the few adjustments but we can never get the full span. Does anyone know if
there is something inside the control box we can change(or modify our?set-up
procedure)?to get a fuller span on the AZ EL meters? In looking at the
schematic, and also on the inside, we didn?t find another hidden pot to do
this. If anyone can help, they also email me directly if they wish at

Still sounds like you are a bit low on the output voltages for the
metering. I have had one here for years (in fact rebuilding it now) and
you should obtain over 5 volts output and be able to adjust it down to 5
volts for full scale azimuth and elevation. Unable to do so sometimes
indicates (for me it did) bad pot(s) in the control box for calibrating
the units. Check with W8GUS, Ron, has he has a nice text document with a
lot of Yaesu rotator notes for various individuals.
