Thanks to the control team of AO-51 for the FM/SSB mode on the bird.
The 23:50z pass this evening was much fun. Signals were very strong
for the most part. I turned my power down to the end of the knob and
still was loud. Antenna gain no doubt. Well I sure enjoyed something
different and hope you guys did too. Hope to see more of the same in
the future. What a go guys! 73's << John

Hi Howard, Jeff, Tim, Dave, et al,

Sorry, but the VX-8R is NOT full duplex. It is true - there are no
current-production full-duplex HTs out there. The Alinco USA folks did say
that they would have a full-duplex DJ-G7 HT at Dayton. It is currently
offered in Japan. Another comment that surfaced was that the HT would be
available in the US around June. If it is coming to the US sometime this
year, I will certainly be interested. It is a tri-band unit with 2M, 70cm
and 23cm. That sounds like fun! Power output on 23cm is lower than 2M and
70cm, but a gain antenna should fix that...

I have a pair of Alinco DJ-580T HTs. I bought my first one new in 1992, did
some appropriate mods, and started using it for satellite contacts. It still
looks and works great even after a number of cruises and other portable
operations. I had both of them with me on a February cruise and got a chance
to discover that they are both in fully-operational condition with
reasonably good sensitivity on 70cm receive. Hopefully the DJ-G7 will
perform as well or better. My other full-duplex HTs include the Kenwood
TH-D7 and the Yaesu FT-530.

GL! Andy W5ACM

Howard and all,

Neither the VX-7R nor the VX-8R are full-duplex capable. I own the former, and
have an email from a member of Yaesu's tech support staff confirming that the
new VX-8R is, like the VX-7R only semi-duplex.

73,

Tim - N3TL

made a decision "
Very sorry about that,I guess they just painted a big picture
I apologize for that

I just sold my FT8800R,maybe I should have kept it and rig up a Gel Cell or
Small 7500ma hr lead acid battery or something similar to power it up,I
always ran it up on low power anyways.Oh well cant look back now.

Sounds like you may have heard me on AO-51 yesterday- kc2pcr
" Strong unintelligible signals for the most part" could have been me tx in
USB because that's what it sounded like coming back to me too, then I
switched to try LSB and BAMM! I was in there pretty solid & fairly clear,
but it was late in the pass so I couldn't hold it for only a moment or two.
I didn't hear anyone else in there however Dave KB2MPU helped me get my
TS-520 with 2m tv-502 transverter dialed in prior to the pass was also on
freq listening and he told me afterwards he copied a few stations calling.
LSB seemed to repeat clear verses USB which came back to me garbled.
Take care & 73 doug kc2pcr

What did I get wrong? Strong unintelligible signals for the most part except
toward the end from KC2BR. Wrong sideband? Help.

HI
?
Monitoring a vital signs for a patient who has been in coma for more than 20
years at the ICU is so valid and so interesting to all the medical
practitioner
or medical doctor around the word .for sure many vital sign well not be stable
but as long as the patient is alive you need to check those vital sign and
keep
your eyes on any simple changes.

It is so interesting to be part of history and it is fun and education.

No harm to monitoring old Mum (unstable) vital signs.
She needs TLC (tender love care)

Unfortunately it looks like they won't be able to include the satellite QSOs
in the online lookup feature. However, I've been asked to post their logs
here on -bb.

Please see http://69.89.25.185/~trexsoft/t-rexsoftware.com/desecheo/qsls.htm
for QSL information.

I hope this comes across in a readable format!
