The telemetry equations are in the December, 1974 issue of the AMSAT
newsletter available at http://www.ka9q.net/AMSAT-Newsletter-1974.pdf. I
don't know of anyone who has made an Excel spreadsheet, and it would be
nice for some one to make one available.

Phil Karn has scanned most of the archive of AMSAT publications and they
can be found at http://www.ka9q.net/newsletters.html. As noted in
yesterday's special AMSAT bulletin, W3PK and W4PUJ are currently working
to get the first 5 years in PDF format.

I was home sick today so I thought I would give AO-07 RTTY a try.

Here is what I was able to copy. Hope this is helpful to someone.

After posting this note, I see that Mike, DK3WN has already done an AO-7
RTTY decoder program, available at
http://www.dk3wn.info/files/ao7_rtty.zip.

You may need to download is library of ActiveX (.ocx) files from
http://www.dk3wn.info/files/ocx.zip and unzip it into your
..\windows\system32\ directory.

Then you may need to (I did) update your Microsoft VB6 Runtime files
(available from Mike at http://www.dk3wn.info/files/vbrun60sp3.EXE).

It was good to see the detailed TLM from an old friend! One of my first
AMSAT tasks was to convert calibration data obtained during thermal vac
testing into the the CW & RTTY TLM equations. I urge all of you
interested in the early days of AO-7 to read AMSAT-Newsletter-1974.pdf
<http://www.ka9q.net/AMSAT-Newsletter-1974.pdf> !

Hi All,

I have the pleasure of talking about Satellite operations to one of
the local Memphis clubs tomorrow, March 5. The Mid-South
Amateur Radio Asso. meeting starts at 7 P.M., so I will try to make
a few contacts on the A0-51 pass at 0050 utc (6:50 pm local time)
right before the meeting. I only get 23 degrees max. to the west
and will be using an Arrow and 2W HT.

I would appreciate any contacts on the upper pair. (145.92/435.300)

Thanks and 73,
Rick - WA4NVM LM1339

P.S. Just had a nice contact with VE3NPC on the "bent pipe" pair of A0-51
(2220 utc)

Folks:

Sorry for the bandwidth, but I know this question comes up here
periodically. I've looked around quite a bit, but I can't seem to
locate any newer information about whether or not there are any
_current_ production HT's capable of transmitting on 2 meters while
simultaneously listening on the 437 downlink for use with the FM
sats. As far as I can tell, that answer is "no", but I wanted to make
sure that's the case before I go looking for a gently-used Icom W32A
or similar older unit. I'm tired of the "excitement" of having to
transmit in the blind when operating portable on SO-50! That got old
the first time I tried it late one night when there was no activity on
an overhead pass, had to try to switch on the TOT, then guess whether
I had actually done it correctly, etc...

Thanks in advance,

Dave - K7DAA

Hi Tom

Do you have Phil Karn's Email address?
My AMSAT Newsletter's go back into 1972
Phil may need those in the collection he is doing.
I have a copy of the December 1974 Newsletter with many pages of AO-07
Telemetery information.

Thanks

Dave,

There was a thread posted a few weeks ago about a new HT from Alinco,
reportedly to debut at Dayton, that will offer full-duplex operation.

There are no current-production HTs that are full-duplex capable.

Hi Dave,
I just managed to buy a brand new Kenwood TH-D7A(G) from
Andrews Communications in Australia, so there is still the occasional new unit
around. Google Andrews...they may be able to help...good luck!

About April or May of last year I noticed that the full duplex HT's were
disappearing from the ads except the Kenwood TH-D7(G). Then about June or
early July that one started disappearing as well. I found that Ham Radio
Outlet (HRO) still had them on hand and I ordered one right away. A couple
months later that was no loger offered at HRO and that's pretty much the
last I've seen of them.

And the VX8R Is fairly new to Yaesu's HT Line UP
I think they are full duplex HT's
