I'll have to dig out some of the pictures I took in the Microsat Lab
in Boulder Colorado, as they were under construction . . .
- some of the test images from WO-18 (hard to call those pictures now)
- a flowchart I made for TLMDC ... Sounds like a new webpage.!.
I'll let yall know when it's ready.

I've been so proud of the ol' AO-16 bird, I made solder connections for
batteries, solar panels & regulators (BCR) on all four spacecraft. Who'd
have ever thought it would enjoy such a 2nd life as a voice repeater.

Speakin of the Microsat launch of 1990
- does anyone know the whereabouts of Dave Cowdin - WD0HHU ?
He was there in Kourou for the launch campaign,
but I've not heard anything from/about him for years and years now...
He used to conduct AMSAT HF nets, and our local nets in Denver.

* Mark, of course didn't recognize your N8MH - but your name looked more
and more familiar as I wrote this. I looked back in my log sheets for 1990,
and found AO-16 contacts with KB5MU, WD0E, KC4EBR, KC4SA, WJ9F, WA4SXM ...
all on the same page. It says you were in WhiteRock NM at the time.
Just readin those callsigns now, I can hear that raspy PB on PSK downlink...
and hear the FT-736 beepin crazy trying to keep up with the 437 doppler.

Seems you and Gene were on there most every night. You were my 4th AO-16
contact logged at 1904 on 30 Sept 1990. I guess that was via the digi,
as I didn't log messages sent via PB/PG. We must have spent months
collecting telemetry with Jim - WD0E, before we indulged in QSOs.
Then I took down my tower and moved.

My goodness - how time flies, nearly 20 years since I left Colorado . . .
and you're in NC now... and I'm in Huntsville. Who'da thunkit.
My my my ~ ~ ~ ~
* Thanks for the memory jog Mark 73 for now /;^)

Hi,

We have come across an installed Emotator EV800 but with no handbook etc!

Could anyone direct me to any data about these, their compatibility with
normal tracking software/protocols etc?

many thanks

Graham,

I have a couple of Emotator EV800DX. It comes with a track box and a
simple manual. I us if mainly for weather satellites images mainy
HRPT CHRPT etc.

For normal satellite operation I am not sure if there is some software
that would track for you. It does not have doppler shift tracking
like KCT and WISP does.

Hope this bit of information helps.

Yep kind of neat! Even fun working AO-16 in its "unintended" mode. I
looked and noticed that I still have all of the archived telemetry from
all 4 birds from launch until 6 - 12 months out.

I would be very interested to read and study a webpage detailing the history
of the different satellites. There's sure no shortage of content! With so
many hams having 'hands-on' experiences to be shared, as well as reams of
technial data which sometimes only exists in the brains of living hame
today, it could be of incalculable benefit to future satellite builders who
can learn from the successes, and no-less-importantly the failures
experienced by these programmes!
These mailing-list messages and the archives which appear on google-searches
have been my source for such information thus far, but it leaves much to be
desired for sure.
I've noted that when reading inquiries from come recent cube-sat builders,
easy access to such a history could lead to larger steps in innovation, and
prevention of repeat-failures.

Looking forward to getting my towers and antennas up and moving from handheld
to base station operation I have the following question. Using an FT-736R,
what TNC/Modem model(s) will get me operational at 1200, 9600, and 38,400
baud? I am interested in currently available and supported models. I know that
seems contradictory with an FT-736R, but what the heck!

Thanks,
Al W8KHP

Hi, thanks for all helpful advice on antenna separation etc. but I have a
problem with my FT817 on 70cms (5 watts) de-sensing my FT-480r on 2 meters.
I have managed to stop the 2 meter transmission blocking the 70cms reception
but I find that with even 5 watts on 70cms this is still de-sensing the 2-
meter radio, any ideas, or links to some good band pass filters (low pass or
high pass that you may think will work?)

Hi all thanks for all information.
My antennas are very simple homemade indoor yagis (2 x 12 X on 70cms) and (1 x
6 X on 2mtrs) the coax is LDF4-50 from just behind the radios to the rotator
in the loft. The radios are about 30cms apart (1ft) and I wonder if I was to
join both the outers together of the coaxes (an electrical bond) would this
make any difference or would this create any more problems? I am just
wondering this as my array is slightly different to others having PVC pipe
booms and being indoors with no connectivity between antennas and radios for
different bands?
regards
Gus

When using some other rigs, like ft847, others have suggested using a 2m/440
duplexer, since the 847 has separate ports. Others using different radios also
suggest using the duplexer as a notch filter. Simply terminate the unused
output port 2m or 70cm with a 50 ohm restor and waether cap. Does this make
sense?

Symek (http://www.symek.com/g/index-g.html) sells TNCs and adapters to
install in the FT-736 to enable 9.6-153.6 kbps reception.
