Just worked KB2M on AO-16. It was a 15-degree pass for me. ERP was about
20 watts - was able to hear my own signal down to less than one degree.

Sincere thanks to Mark (N8MH) and other control ops who are keeping this
grand old bird going!

Hi Dave,

yes your telemetry is very much appreciated! The satellite is
currently transmitting on 145.870MHz continuously, only when in
sunlight of course.
I did reply to your e-mail, but it must have gone lost in the byte
bucket then I guess! Let me know whether you succeeded in capturing
telemetry from the bird.

I have a demo for 12 year old kids Thursday at about 1500 gmt. I would
like to demo Echo link with some ham . If you have the time to come up on
Echo link and talk about ham radio and satellites please get email me.

I have a preference for dx stations but have gotten only one volunteer who
is short on time. So if you have a little time and a radio in range of an
echolink repeater or a computer please volunteer. Here is your chance to
light the spark that might start a kid on a carrier in math and science.

Morning,

As you know, what is called "space weather" can have significant impacts on
power grids, communications, etc. I came across what is so far an
interesting book on the economic consequences.

http://www.nap.edu/catalog.php?record_id=12507

Note you can download a full PDF of the book for free. About 14 megs.
Somewhat related to our hobby, and an interesting way to spend a cold
evening.

In reference to "space weather" topic, as mentioned below:

There is also an interesting course offered by MetEd (Meteorology Education
and Training) on the subject of "SPACE WEATHER BASICS." Search MetEd, or
the main webpage is http://www.meted.ucar.edu/ Space Weather is closely
related to our world of Amateur Radio and Communications.

Charlie, N5TD
