We are doing OK with garden variety spammers ... so far this week the
AMSAT mail server has blocked 97,257 spam e-mails.
It is the "phishers" variant of spammers in this particular case ....
those guys trying to trick you into thinking that your bank is sending
you an e-mail, and getting you to click on a web link that goes to a
fake site that looks like your bank, and then harvesting your username
password, account number etc.
Many large e-mail providers including Microsoft, Yahoo! amd AOL have
responded by refusing to accept mail that has a "From:" address that
does not match the domain of the server that is actually sending the
e-mail. This is a business decision ... they want to prevent their
customers from getting malicious e-mails, and don't want to see their
company's name in the news. AMSAT's mailing list and aliases "look
like" phishing attempts since they say they are from one domain, but are
actually sent from another.
There is no easy solution - every alternative has some sort of downside,
but we are working on alternatives for affected AMSAT members.
If you are curious for more details, put "Yahoo! Breaks! Every! Mailing!
List! In! The! World!" into your favorite search engine.

Looking ahead, there's a satellite LilacSat-2 with FM voice transponder
capability slated to launch with XW2 (XW1 was HO-68). Anyone know launch
date ?

Guys
check with your ISP. mine will let me have 4 different address.
removing the need for a web based service. But only need 2.
One for general email and the other for HAM related list.
plus can better control spam by blocking anything sent direct from
a web based address due to the never ending hijacking of those
accounts. Very helpful on a satellite internet system with a daily
bandwidth limit.

Yep sure can and I do. My ISP is via a satellite service WILDBLUE Their
web based email sucks real bad. Refuse to use it.
So when we moved out of town to the country I kept my BIG-RIVER dot NET
email account. And it will show if you go
searching the IP address in my email headers.

Really great to see more satellites launched with transponder payloads.
There's a Linear Transponder, FM voice transponder, D-STAR Parrot Repeater
and I think it's three satellites with Digipeaters.

A friend has loaned me a Kantronics KPC-3+ TNC with v9.1 firmware. I've
been searching for settings specific to this unit for ARISS work. Most
of what I found are generic settings (some info is conflicting).
I'm wondering if anyone is successfully using one of these units for
ARISS work, and, if so, what settings do you use or recommend?
Thanks,

Hi Kelley,
> ... searching for settings specific to this unit for ARISS work
I'm not familiar with the Kantronics syntax for typing commands but
see below for a general summary of the parameters you may find useful.
ARISS has a summary of hardware TNC and soundcard TNC operations
posted at:
http://www.ariss.org/uploads/1/9/6/8/19681527/k9jkm_2012_symposium_ver
2.pdf (careful, might line wrap this URL)
The list of parameters you will find useful but may need to adapt to
Kantronics syntax:
MYCALL - Your Callsign Default is NOCALL, but you want others to know
you are there.
DAYTIME - YYMMDDHHMM Used if you want to timestamp the packets you are
receiving.
MONITOR ON - Displays all packets on the frequency
MALL ON - Displays all packets on the frequency (connected or
unconnected)
MCOM ON - Displays the AX.25 protocol with the message (might clutter
your screen)
MCON ON - Allow you to see all packets even when in CONVERS mode
MSTAMP ON - Monitored packets are timestamped
MRPT ON - Displays the entire digipeat path for the packets.
CONSTAMP ON - Connect and disconnect status messages are timestamped
HEADERLN ON - Header information is displayed on separate line from
message text
PASSALL ON - TNC will accept and display packets that have errors
(noise). Partial packets, even with errors, are often still readable
to the human eye.
PASSALL OFF - TNC will only accept and display packets that have
complete CRC.
CONVERS <enter> - Mode to type packet message from keyboard directly
to the TNC. Ctrl-C will exit CONVERS mode.
MHEARD <enter> - Displays your TNC's "heard" list (updated only when
PASSALL OFF)
UNPROTO CQ VIA ARISS - Most basic string for ARISS to copy, route, and
digipeat your packet

Don't know if it ever appeared in order to disappear.
No response to emails, no information, no real images.....
You want to do/see something really cool? Look at what the FPV folks are
doing for tracking. Beats anything portable I have seen in a long run :-)

Hello all,
During 6/20 01:10U and 02:44U passes, the results of monitoring new
sats are as following (only U-band sats):
1.PolyITAN-1: 437.675 MHz CW -- "CQ DE EM0UKPI EM0UKPI K", 3 digital
bursts following CW also heard.
2.POPSAT-HIP1: 437.405 MHz CW -- "POPSAT", CCSDS signal also heard.
3.BugSat-1: 437.440 MHz -- 9.6k signal, heard not decoded.
4.PACE: 437.485 MHz -- not heard (I'm sorry about that!)

Hi ,
Using the initial keps posted out for "Unisat" ( Cloud ) - I did some
sweep monitoring on 437 Mhzs during a predicted pass 0929 GMT ( 20/6/14 )
Heard various bursts of data and activity from the satellites in the
group. Did not identify each one at the time but now that I know that they
are
active will follow up and clarify hopefully more accurately.
Congratulations on the success of the launch and activation of payloads.
The keps on Celestrak.com show recent launches with many in the list for
day 170.

You can configure ?AGWPE for the KAM TNC and make sure to provide the
commands in AGWPE to initialize in the KISS mode then use UISS to
communicate with the ISS.
IniKiss1: XKCH OFF
IniKiss2: INTFACE KISS
IniKiss3: RESET
ExitKiss On Exit Checked
I have read XKCH OFF and INTFACE KISS ?sometime's is not recognized by KAM,
I use ^M with MFJ 1278B and it works.
