HamTV Bulletin #13
April 14, 2014
Ham Video Commissioning completed
The final Ham Video Commissioning Pass was performed flawlessly
Sunday April 13 at 18.23 UTC.
ISS Commander Koichi Wakata operated OR4ISS while ground stations
G4KLB, F6DZP, IK1SLD and KI (Livorno) received the signals and
streamed the video over the BATC server. The DATV signal was received
for about 6 minutes.
Commander Wakata congratulated ARISS for this achievement and
answered a series of questions, prepared in the manner of a school
contact. He also proceeded to a microgravity experiment.
The recorded video of this historical transmission is available at:
topic.php?f=66&t=317
and also on YouTube
<http://youtu.be/EpFzbKvK1pk>http://youtu.be/EpFzbKvK1pk
Congratulations to the Ham Video team for this outstanding performance.
Next step should be a video enhanced ARISS school contact.
We will keep you informed on any progress.
73,
Gaston Bertels, ON4WF
ARISS Europe chairman

Hi Simon , G4ELI
Stainless steel is a very bad material to be used to made antennas or
to be used as an electrical conductor because his specific resistivity
is very very high ( 1,61 x 10^-7 )
Since at Radio Frequency the RF current flows only over a thin
surface of the metallic material than the stainless steel could be
used provided it is electrolitically silver plated because the specific
resistivity of silver is the lowest possible ( 1,59 x 10^-9 ) but this
procedure is very costly and the silver over the stainless steel do
not last very much !
Use only aluminum for your antennas as shows the very low specific
resistivity of aluminum as listed on the following address:

Hi,
Thanks for the explanation :) . Looks like there aren't that many antennas
available, maybe it'll be the X-Quad from WIMO...

Hi,
If you experienced problems uploading or accessing the warehouse at
around 21:00 UTC on the 14th March, we were appliying security patches
and the Apache web server did not come up cleanly after the reboot.
All fixed now.
