Hello,

I've read this

Can you please tell me how can I use the bird 43 on 23cm band? I need a
good precise swr meter for 70cm and 23cm band. However from specs bird 43
can't go to 23cm, only limited to 1000MHz.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Jo?o Fonseca

Jo?o,

According to Bird, the 43 is good to 2.7 GHz with the correct elements:

http://preview.tinyurl.com/qfuxo3q

I have a Bird 10k element, 10 watts, 1.1-1.8 GHz, however I did not see it
on their list of current
accessories. You can find them on eBay. Coaxial Dynamics sells elements
which cover this range which
should be usable with the Bird 43:

http://www.coaxial.com/products/82000_series.htm

I assume you have a standard 400-1000 MHz element. Depending on your needs,
it MAY be accurate
enough. Twenty years ago, I compared the 10c (400-1000MHz) with the 10k on
23 cm, and they agreed
within about 5 %.

Alan

Jo?o - the Bird 43 does in fact work at 1296. The ?K? series of slugs are
for the 1.1-1.8 GHz frequency span. I have the 1/10W slugs and they work
FB; there are 25W and 50W elements available as well. The manual lists the
specification of the meter up to 2700 MHz with the appropriate slug of course.

The biggest problem with the Bird 43 is that the cost of the meter itself is
relatively inexpensive in the used market gathering up a suite of slugs for
your workbench gets expensive?kind of like eating peanuts though!

Hello Joao, CR7AJC

Not true !
the Bird Company supply upon request measuring elements for the frequency
band 1100 to 1800 MHz for power to be measured between 1 watt to 500 watt
and I have tree of those measuring elements one is for maximum 1 watt, the
other for maximum 25 watt and the last one is for maximum 500 watt.

The only problem is that they must be expecially manufactured upon customer
order and so they are very costly ! !
