Hi Joe,
Unfortunately the geostationary footprint at 26? East will not cover
North America, only parts of Brazil will be covered.
Basically the same position as Es'HailSat-1
Perhaps we will find another one willing to sponsor a position more in
the West...

I agree with you Stefan. At 26 degrees east, the satellite should cover all
of Europe and Africa. Coverage may stretch west to Iceland, eastern
Greenland, and the eastern tip of Brazil. Coverage should stretch to the
east to most of India, and western halves of China and Russia.
It won't reach to North America, South America (except eastern edge of
Brazil), Australia, or Japan.
Nonetheless, it sounds like a great project, an excellent opportunity to
gain experience with a GEO platform, and a demonstration of technical
competence.
Best wishes and hopes for success to the Qatar Amateur Radio Society and
AMSAT-DL!

Hi Gaston,
Is 2395 MHz what will be used routinely? I notice that 2422-2437 MHz is
listed as primary and 2369-2396 MHz is listed as 'contingency'.
I'm in the process of updating the AMSAT Frequency Guide and this info
would be helpful.
Tnx!

Hello!
If you want to see how footprint looks from 26 degrees east you can
have a look on Picture at http://www.amsat.se/
This is very exiting news! Thankyou to all working with it.

I just tried to work AO-73. I can hear the beacon just fine, but no
transponder. Isn't it supposed to be on low power? Is anyone hearing it?

Jeff,
It is still in it's normal day/night mode. They are reviewing the data
from yesterday's test and will decide if they can put it in full time
transponder mode on the weekends based on that data.

It worked fine last night. It's in autonomous mode. The transponder is
active in eclipse, not in the sun.

Is that the zero degree horizon footprint or the more usual 10 degree
footprint?
