The first test of the AO-73 SSB linear transponder took place at 10:48? UT
today.

Howard G6LVB operating GB3RS worked Trevor M5AKA operating G0AOK.

Both stations ran 5 watts PEP to a Arrow antennas.

Tone doesn't really come across well in 80x24, does it?

Typo on the callsign that should have read G0AUK.

As I've had several email already on the subject I'll confirm this was only
an initial test of the transponder. It was commanded off towards the end of
the pass.

Testing and analysis of the telemetry data from FUNcube-1 (AO-27) is
continuing.

Thank you to all stations who have provided telemetry so far. We would
encourage more stations to download the Dashboard software to receive the
telemetry and upload it to the Data Warehouse

Yaesu Rotators use English (Imperial) sized Ball Bearings.
Depending on the specific rotator model, the size will be:

5/16" (7.938 mm) for elevation rotor of G-5500
http://ivok.home.xs4all.nl/pa1ivo/G-5500.html

3/8" (9.525 mm) 65 rockwell 65/35(steel/nickel)
for azimuth rotor in larger G-1000 rotors

On Friday a film crew from the BBC visited the FUNcube station at the RSGB
National Radio Centre in Bletchley Park. A short (2 minute ?) item on the
satellite should be broadcast on BBC One on Monday between 6 and 9 AM and on
the web after that.

The BBC blocks overseas viewers from seeing most shows and it is not known
if it will be viewable outside the UK perhaps the use of a proxy server may
help ? (ExpatShield ?)

Listen on 145.870 too. Most of these new satellites have downlinks on
UHF. So if you are listening for them, could you also use your dual band
radio to also listen for DRAGONsat on 145.870? It is a ver brief 9600
baud once every 30 seconds. So far, not heard.

Its in the 40 degree inclination orbit along with the other dozen
satellites launched from Wallops. Coming over mid northern latitudes 6
passes in a row in the Afternoon/evenings.

Thanks

Thanks Gordon and others.

Is there any SDR software that supports the FCDP and will demod FM properly
for 9.6K FSK ?

It should be FM, and you must pick up the signal from before the audio
filter. You're looking for "flat unsquelched" in Motorola parlance ;-)

9600bps FSK is generated by modulating the carrier frequency with the
digital bitstream directly, after passing it through a filter to round the
corners off so it doesn't splatter. As such, the frequency response needs
to be flat from DC to whatever the passband of the IF filter is.

I have just about lost my mind trying to get SatPC32 to track
FUNcube-1. I just put in the follow keps off of the n2yo page:

*Two Line Element Set (TLE):*

1 99991U 00000 13325.30964218 .00000000 00000-0 10000-4 0 7
2 99991 97.7992 38.2578 0062122 196.7894 338.6768 14.77349691 03

N2YO shows funcube over UK and I show it down by South America. What in the
hell am I doing wrong? I set up a separate group to experiment with getting
the program to work properly with FUNcube. Initially
I used the preliminary keps and everything worked terrific. I copied
FUNcube with a terrific signal. I put the new keps in and it all went to
hell. When I put the prelim keps back in, it is still not correct.
I double checked to see if my location is correct. I am tracking FO-29 just
fine. Everything seems to work EXCEPT Funcube.

Geesh a pete, I am as confused as the little boy who lost his bubble gum
in a chicken yard.

I noticed the new keeps from n2yo didn't seem right and kept using the
older keeps . Worked fine last night.

Interesting, it looks like the only thing that changed between them are the
first two columns of the first row and the first column of the second row.
Tricky. Thanks Andrew, yes, trust the FUNcube website!

Hi Hakan,

Thanks for your kind comment regarding the project. We have had a great
time since launch, examining how the spacecraft is operating.

We have noticed this anomaly wrt the fwd/reverse power on the PA. At the
moment we have several theories, but not a total explanation.

We have noticed that this anomaly seems to happen a min or so after the
spacecraft enters eclipse, and the fwd/ref power readings return to normal
before the spacecraft leaves eclipse. We have not yet noticed this effect
occur during daylight.

We are continuing to investigate why this anomaly might be happening.
