Just a little reminder that the -modes list is open to everyone _for
submissions only_. Anyone is welcome to submit a request by sending an email
to ao51-modes(AT)amsat.org. However, the email will be held for review by a
moderator just to filter the spam, and you may get an indication of this in
a return email. Rest assured we do not filter anything other than spam, and
there are usually 20+ of those per day.

Recently several people have tried to subscribe to the list and have been
upset when that request was not honored. Please understand that subscribing
to the list is only for command stations and the AO-51 Operations Committee.
Believe me you are not missing anything.

Please continue to check the webpage
(http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/echo/CTNews.php), -bb, and ANS for the
monthly schedule, and let us know what modes you'd like to see on AO-51.

The same solution works: run it under DOSBOX. The gaming programmers have
invested a lot of effort into making sure that obsolete graphics modes work
under current versions of Windows.

Thanks for the quick reply. The scheme sounds reasonable, especially
seeing as the mode changes are done manually by volunteers, so I'm sure
that a wide variety of factors can impact scheduling.

It's good to know that the changes are generally done during "east coast
evening passes" as a rule of thumb. I'm new enough that I'm never
really sure if my own stuff is working properly, and 9600 baud sounds
like white noise to me...

I'm really enjoying all of the mode changes on AO-51, it's great fun to
try and get things working with the more challenging modes.

Isn't this project so "maneuverable" that any keps posted today are
almost immediately out of date?

Or from Peter's main page select Online Catalog / Satellite Antennas

Don't select Dual Band area.

Model No. 70CM-8ELSat and Model No. 2M-5ELSat

I am interested in a dual band, circular polarized antenna system, I like
the Gulf Alpha system, from the reviews i have read. But their web site is a
bit thin on info. I go to the dual band section, it talks about FM
antennas...not sure why they would be FM... they arent tuned for SSB part of
band or what?

What is the model number of their satellite packages?

Anyone use them? I saw an Eham review of one system, great review, but no
antenna model number.

Please direct me...

VO-52 is an inverting transponder, which means the SSB sense is flipped from
upper to lower and vice versa. Also the frequencies are flipped. What goes
in as LSB on the bottom edge of the transponder comes out as USB on the top
edge, if that makes sense. Doing it this way helps cancel some of the
Doppler shift as seen from the ground. The convention on inverting
transponders is LSB up, USB down.

Hi Mike, W0PD

Use LSB in uplink 70 cm and USB in downlink 2 meters.

Force it?
That's how the instructions tell you to do it.
It's the correct method.

IT works fine for me with no dos boxes, cludges or other programs.
I use Win XP and just run it.
My computer clock is always set to GMT.
