Dear AMSAT Community,

As we have done in the past, we are surveying the community for ground
station capabilities. The goal is to estimate how much capacity the
community has and our ability to support a variety of missions.

The survey is located online at: http://gs.engin.umich.edu/gs_survey/

Some of our initial results are published there from a few years ago. If
you have a ground station, we would love to hear from you!

Thanks for your help.

Dear James,

thanks for the survey. A few observations on the survey:

Most amateur radio operators are not "Institutions" unless you want only
universities to respond. Needs to be clarified. Secondly asking for Lat and
Lon is fine if you provide the format. Grid square is much more convenient
and bullet proof (at least within NA). Antenna gain has to be matched to a
specific antenna, not sure how to respond if more than one is selected
(UHF/VHF). Would be nice to inquire about the radio in addition to
software. Some software is not supporting all radios. Would be great if you
could optimize the survey.

Looking forward to the results,

Stefan VE4NSA

Stefan, thanks for the email and the comments. Quick reply...the
"institutions" is not correct, sorry about that. After the initial login,
it asks if the GS belongs to a person, industry, university, or government.
The initial "Create Institution button has been changed!

Good note on the antenna and the radios. I'll see what I can do asap.

Thanks.

The latest issue of the MNASSA newsletter has an interesting article by Greg
ZS1BI on the recent launch by Pyongyang of a rocket and satellite.

It can be downloaded from

Hi,

Thanks for reading. The CubeSats STRAND 1 and AAUSAT3 are no longer
part of tle-new.txt
but I can't find them in any of the other tle file. Does anybody now
where they will be
part of?

Jan,

Sometimes there is a delay transitioning the satellites between lists from
Celestrak. The only place I could find them is directly from
SPACE-TRACK.ORG. If they do not appear in a day or so, check with Tim Kelso
at celestrak.com.

Alan
