These are exactly the problems that can be neatly addressed with a
variable speed drive rather than the classic bang-bang. If you want a
fixed position, you use a control algorithm that slows the motor as it
reaches it so it won't overshoot (or at least not as much) and stops at
exactly the position you want.

But since you're most likely tracking a moving satellite, you can simply
vary the speed of the drive to match the actual speed of the satellite
and then you'll never have to stop. You'll have a small error in
velocity and position but again, with the right control law those errors
can be made very small.

Al,

I have it running on WIN7 32 bit with no problem. I installed it about 2
years ago, and don't recall having to do anything special. I use another
program for tracking, but I used the message functions with the AO-51 BB.

It helps to install ancient programs in another directory than "Program
Files" if run from a non-admin account, to prevent access issues. I have a
C:\MYPROGRAMS directory for that.

When I tried installing WiSP under Windows 7, Windows 7 wouldn't start and
had to revert back to last known working state. There must be some choice
that is made during installation that is key to proper functioning?

Dear Trevor, CNN are available here along with ABC, NBC, Fox, NASA channel
and every other media outlet on planet earth. (p.s. thanks to Al Gore, we
will now even be able to watch terrorist beheadings in real time)

Why, why, then, do you need to post every single fart that occurs more than
500 feet AGL anywhere on earth?

In the name of Jesus Christ, please, please give it a break with your serial
posting !!!

If this gets me kicked off the AMSAT reflector, so be it, but someone has to

CNN are reporting the BLITS satellite was rendered inoperable after being
impacted by debris from a 2007 weapon test.

http://edition.cnn.com/2013/03/09/tech/satellite-hit/index.html

Wiki says the weapon test created 2,317 pieces of trackable size (golf ball
size and larger) and an estimated 150,000 debris particles so there's
clearly potential for more impacts.

Geez - Ted, Trevor has been one of the best sources of satellite related
information you will find. I for one appreciate his "satellite news service"
as I call it since I don't have the time to sit in front of "CNN" and get
the news. Maybe you do!

Simple solutions: 1) use your delete button or 2) use your email program
"spam" filter (just like I have added YOU to my filter).

Trevor - keep up your good work!!

I wrote an article called "How to setup WiSP32 in Vista"
in my HP several years ago.
I think this method is similar in "WiSP under Windows 7".

Ted:

I, too, want you to know that I appreciate what Trevor does for us.

But I write this in response to your post because I am deeply offended
by your general demeanor (that idiot post about Al Gore) , your use of
my Savior's name (no Christian would ever use his name that way, thus
making it profane) and just bad language in general. You may wish to be
annoyed by Trevor's posts, and you may even wish to react to them.
But, please keep it civil. A smile take less energy than a scowl.

Thanks

Thank you Trevor, for these. Most of the time I've heard of them
before, but sometimes not.

In the information age where we are bombarded by multiple
firehoses, it is easy to miss something. Having relevant items
pointed to here helps that, at least some.

Emails are light and easy to deal with. The simple application
of the delete key in your mailer makes them go away. In general
50% of the emails I get on lists are deleted fairly quickly, leaving
the others for more reading.

If people like Ted don't like them, any subject header that smells
like a re-transmission should be automatically deleted, and if that
really really isn't enough, mails from Trevor could simply be
zapped on arrival. That can be automated (deleting) in mailers
like Thunderbird. But, I hope no one does that because Trevor
has done a lot.

In the name of Jesus Christ, please, please give it a break with your serial
posting !!!

If this gets me kicked off the AMSAT reflector, so be it, but someone has to
say it

CNN are reporting the BLITS satellite was rendered inoperable after being
impacted by debris from a 2007 weapon test.

http://edition.cnn.com/2013/03/09/tech/satellite-hit/index.html

Wiki says the weapon test created 2,317 pieces of trackable size (golf ball
size and larger) and an estimated 150,000 debris particles so there's
clearly potential for more impacts.

Trevor,

Thank you so very much for monitoring multiple news sources and for
passing along information that is of interest to the amateur satellite
community. I especially appreciate your finding and sharing your sources
that contain the technical details often omitted or misunderstood by the
popular press.

Keep up the good work!
