6 bits gray encoders give 64 positions in 360 that's aprox 5 degrees
steps... pretty good...
7 bits will be 2,8 degrees steps...
UTP cable is almost inexpensive.... has 8 wires ... hum... ground + 7
bits... interesting... parallel port of a PC as the input/output
device... software will be written in python... (put your favorite prog.

Thanks for the update and clarification of the keps used, I had noted a
change from my previous prediction
with the keps issued. Satellite actually arrived about 4 minutes later.
I also followed the SSTL video streaming and saw them celebrating the
success.
May I also add my congratulations to the team and all concerned with the
project and launch.
A very proud day for you all and pleased to see another success story.

When AO-7 is in B mode it's down link is FO-29' uplink. I was thinking, even
though their ground track as seen on Satpc32 do not line up, would not they
be able to "see" each other? Which begs the question, how does one determine
what that "see" part is? Is there a quick back of the envelope calculation
one can do? Keep it simple.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking Bob, But when each satellites
footprints intersect other, then the satellite's are in view of each
other. When the footprints don't intersect the earth is in the way.

Hello All
On the 22:36 UTC pass both STRaND-1 and AAUSAT3 have been heard in
Cienfuegos city (EL92sd). I was running a FUNcube Dongle with SDR-Radio V1.5
and a homebrew ARROW antenna with a homebrew preamplifier. The STRaND-1
beacon has a great signal (S9+).
Congratulations to the STRaND-1 and AAUSAT3 teams for the great job!

I printed several STRaND-1 packets and need to figure out what to do with
them ;)
Which TLEs did you use? Based on timestamps and scrolling time back in
SatPC32, it looks to me like the bird might be behind the pre-launch keps
I'm using. Meaning, I see packets time stamped at the predicted LOS. I was
NOT in the shack, but that's my guess based on time stamps.
