All,
?
this is very hard to write, but his family has just told me that my good
friend?John Heath, G7HIA succumbed to cancer and passed away?last night.
They asked me to tell his amateur radio friends here and I know that
amsat-uk have also been told.
?
I'l leave it to others to complete his obituary, but I will always remember
his passion?for satellites and the cosmos, his patience in explaining and
teaching others, his companionship and friendship, and our various contacts

All,
this is indeed very sad ... last time I was in touch with John was about 1
year ago when he posted a request for contributions for the Sounds from
Space collection in Radcom.
Also at that time he even extracted himself some old recordings from his old
files and sent them to me.
He was very kind and we certainly will miss him.
Dear John, rest in peace.

I have been deeply hurt by the death of John. I know him for a very long
time and I highly respected him. We had so many good and fruitful
discussions about telemetry and analysis of data. As Andy said, with his
good contacts to the Russians he was a very important person for us. He
built a bridge between the russian radio amateurs and our communities. And
he built a bridge between young people who are interested in amateur radio.
May he rest in peace.
I wish to express my deepest condolences to his family.
Farewell John.

Sad to hear that John is gone.
He was one of the first QSO's I had in 1993 on RS10.
After that we had QSOs on many of the satellites.
I also remember him from the AMSAT-UK Colloquia where he helped to introduce
new users to satellites. Always friendly and good to talk with.
The last 3 to 4 years we have exchanged e-mails of a more private character.
My thoughts goes to his family.

LOOKING FOR A FULL-DUPLEX FM MOBILE/PORTABLE SATELLITE STATION?
I?m offering my Kenwood TM-D710A VHF/UHF Dual Band FM mobile
transceiver for sale. I purchased it June 25, 2011. It is in
excellent/like new condition. I have the original box, packing
materials, and cabling. It has no scratches and works as advertised.
I cut off the original power connector and replaced it with a pair of
Anderson Power Poles. The original connectors and unused power cable
are supplied.
Included with this are two accessories:
1. Aftermarket programming cable (serial)
2. Green Light Labs GPS-710 GPS unit for APRS operation
This is an excellent radio. I have made hundreds of satellite
contacts with it, digipeated many packets via the International Space
Station, in addition to using it for local repeater and simplex
contacts.
Price $500 shipped double boxed from Texas. Payment via Cashier?s
Check or USPS Money Order

I worked him twice, back in '93 via AO-13 Mode-B, SSB. I gave him a 58
each time. (My reports weren't so good!) Our first contact was a brief
one, on the first weekend I ever operated satellite. The bird was
crowded and I didn't really know what I was doing. The second QSO later
in the year was a bit more of a ragchew.
I'm looking at his QSL card right now.
Please QSP condolences to the family from this DX station.

AMSAT-UK is very saddened by the passing of John Heath, G7HIA. He was a long
standing member of AMSAT-UK, and contributed to the amateur space programme
in many ways during his lifetime.
John was a regular attendee at the annual AMSAT-UK Colloquia for many years
and he enjoyed meeting up with his friends who shared his passion for
satellites and space. Sadly his ill heath in recent years prevented his
attendance.
In the days before his passing, John was in contact with AMSAT-UK; and made
a significant financial contribution to the FUNcube project. He chose to do
this by making the donation via the Radio Communication Foundation, which,
as a registered charity will be able to claim any income tax paid by John as
Gift Aid. The size of his donation is very considerable, and will be used at
the discretion of the AMSAT-UK committee. Such is the extent of his
generosity, that it may be feasible to consider the construction of a
further complete CubeSat.
AMSAT-UK is very grateful for this donation.
John will be sadly missed by all members of AMSAT-UK who knew him during his
life, and we send our condolences to his family.
RIP, John
