Still looking for a North center scale for the G5500. Several years ago
there was a thread about the G5400, however the 5500 goes 450 degrees.
Anyone mess with this issue?

I cannot make the Symposium due to health issues. I sure do hate to
miss it. Perhaps next week someone can spread the news about the next
satellite that we will have up. I hope all have a great time.

Sorry folks, should have added more information. The Engineering department
at the University of Southern Indiana is sponsoring a balloon launch with a
paper airplane payload that will be released in an attempt to break the
world record for a released flight. . Here is the USI High Altitude Balloon
website: https://sites.google.com/site/usihab2011/

The balloon with have one APRS xmtr, W9MOK; and the plane will have another
APRS xmtr, W9MOK-2. Our main concern is the plane. Tracking it so we can
recover it.
The information that I have is that launch will be about 8am somewhere in
Illinois. The launch site chosen to the landing site will be in So. Gibson
or No. Vanderburgh counties in Indiana. Exact time? and launch location will
be determined based on mother natures whims
?

And where on the planet might this "local" event be? A balloon can have a

A local University is going to do a balloon launch and release a paper
airplane this Saturday. they will have APRS on both the balloon and
airplane with the goal to find both when they land. I won't be able to
join the chase but just for fun I would like to use my satellite antenna
array to track them.?Is anyone aware of a program that will steer the
antenna's based on received APRS data? I am using an LVB tracker and Yaesu
5400 setup and have SATPC32 and Nova for windows?if there is some sort of
an interface program.

As one of the current holders of the World Record I would like to wish
everyone involved good luck with the flight.
I used a big red bee 70cm aprs unit on the plane, very light weight.
If you use APRSIS32 for tracking it has the ability to display a
communication range circle based on altitude

Hi All,

This may seem odd but I cannot seem to locate any website that has a simple
list of ACTIVE satellites with data showing:

Name
ID number
Up/Down Frequencies
Modes or modulation info
maybe output power and?? other info

It would be a really useful checksheet to have by you when operating
portable and, I am told that, if it were created in an xml format, it could
be searchable by machines as well as humans!

If there is not such a list in existence perhaps the experts meeting at
Orlando this weekend could create something for us?

many thanks

Mine was one of the threads for alternative center scale for 5400. I
created mine by taking the scale off the meter, scanning it at as
higher res as I could.
I loaded the BMP ( preferred to jpg because of losses in compression)
into Paintshop Pro, re-lettered it with the appropriate figures and
airbrushed the scanning blemishes.

I printed it onto a self-adhesive label ( took several attempts to
get size exactly right) and stuck it on the back of the existing
scale. couldn't tell it from the original.

Hope this may help.

Hi,

That's what I was proposing at the colloquium too.

It's easy to set up but someone would have to maintain it :-)

It's one of the features that are planned for HamSatDroid but it could also
be exposed as a service too.
