Hi Drew,

As Art has stated, the authority having jurisdiction, is the National one -
in this case the FCC. As your link shows, they have decided to licence this
spacecraft on 145.825MHz but to operate in the "Experimental" service not ,
our, "Amateur Satellite Service". Of course we have a "primary" ITU
allocation on this frequency but this is not an "exclusive" one.

Am I reading this right? A commercial s/c operating on 145.825???? This is
the camels nose under the tent, using our own packet network for automated
telemetry?

I can understand the uni cubesats on UHF, butthis is OUR primary allocation.
We really need to protest this vehemently if they were approved.

The stated callsign, WF9XKA, was a 6 month experimental, now expired.
(2012/02/27-2012/08/27)
It no longer appears to exist in the FCC database.

Dove-1 is already being discussed on a separate thread.

The other three are NASA Ames Research Center PhoneSats, downlinking on 437
MHz, see

There is a pending STA request to extend the original experimental license.

All,

Saw only one satellite deployed at 14:37 UTC from ISS before the live
webcast was disrupted. , not sure whether it was " We Wish" or "Raiko" .
Nothing heard on ?437.505 Mhz (We wish frequency) after the deployment from
ISS at 15:07 UTC pass over India.

I heard signal from FITSAT-1 at 1700z pass over JA. 437.250 CW was
loud and clear.
I could not hear WE WISH, TechEdSat and F-1 at the pass.

Congratulations FITSAT-1 team!

For many years I have used this Transceiver intermittently as a receiver in
a protected location, so I never got around to grounding it. Now I am not
in a protected location and want to transmit, so the Transceiver must be
grounded. I check the manual on page 14. Yes, there is an empty,
threaded location on the back panel for the ground connection, but it
does not say what thread the connection has. Now this normally would not be
a big deal, as I would go to my bucket of nuts and bolts and get a few bolts
and find which one had the correct thread. Unfortunately, I am not near
my normal location and the junk box so I look more carefully at the manual
for the thread size and do not find the information.

If someone reading this knows the thread size I would appreciate it if you
would let me know, so I can go get one,
maybe two so I will have a spare, and then mark up my manual.

Concerned amateurs should email elb@xxx.xxx with your objections to the
issuance
of an experimental license in the amateur service for a commercial satellite
which would appear to violate 97.3(a)(4), and requesting that the Commission
deny?the STA to extend said license.

I just did...
