On the subject of Mars, George Boorer ZL3PN used the landing to get some
good publicity for Amateur Radio in the local press and on Radio New Zealand.

I will be on a family holiday next week in the UK and plan to be QRV on the
FM sats from IO82 and IO81/82 border (Sunday thru Thursday), and IO72
(Wednesday, 15 Aug 2012, 1400z - 1630z). If I can get to the border between
IO71/72 I will try that, but don't think I will have time (to go that far
south). Looking west, I realize I will only be able to reach into Nova
Scotia, Quebec, and W1/2/3, as I am traveling light with only an HT for
AO-27 and SO-50. If you need IO72, drop me a note and I'll try to listen for
your call (k5oe at aol dot com). I will be using my UK call, M0GOE.

Jerry, K5OE

Doppler shift measurements show that RS 40 (alias Yubileiny 2,
alias MiR) is object 38735 (2012-041C). This is now also confirmed
by Space-Track.

Object 38736 is Gonets M04.
