Video interview with Dr. Sandy Antunes, Author of DIY Satellite Platform.

In it he talks about IARU amateur satellite frequency coordination and GENSO.

See http://www.uk.amsat.org/?p=8480

Dr. Sandy Antunes used Kickstarter to raise funds for the project.

Interesting. But if they word it properly, and the $1 donation is
strictly to support the mission, then only donors can "tweet" or
whatever. Since it's not for-profit venture anyway.....

i seem to remember a satellite with a swatch message of some sort. could
i donate $10,000 and get about 30 minutes of air time... pretty
inexpensive advertising compared to radio and tv time.

George,

Both SATPc and WinAOS work fine, so if they are pulling the same set of
keps, I'm not certain that's the issue. I may try a reinstall.

Thanks for the ideas.

The first error translates as "invalid numeric input"... your keps may be
corrupt, or you may have selected a satellite which has re-entered.
WinListen and WinAOS use the same keps file as SatPC32, so I would suggest
downloading fresh keps, or downloading them from a different provider, and
then try running it again.

Swatch had to cancel the mission after international protest and violating
amateur radio rules.

AFAIK it was launched from MIR. When the "mission" was cancelled the crew
tossed it over the side without turning it on.

Rick,
make sure that WinListen uses the same Keps file as SatPC32 and WinAOS.
In SatPC32 you can see the path to the Keps file in the foot line of menu
"Satellites" and the filename in the left list of that menu.
In WinListen click menu File|Open and navigate to that Keps file and choose
it.

Hello AMSAT,
I wish to make an inquiry to those AMSAT members that might also be active
on ATV. There is a group of us who each morning get on the air starting
around 7:30 to exchange "live"
ATV on 439.25 MHz. Our contacts are coordinated on 3930 KHz. For several
mornings this week we've had some very strong openings getting P5 pictures
consistently over distances up to about 180 miles. Some of the stations
involved are WB8LGA, Marengo. OH, W8URI, Mt Gilead,OH, KA8MFD Edison, OH,
W8RVH, Springfield. OH, KB8GUE Leesburg, OH, WA9EEI Taylorsville, IN, and
W4HTB, Bowling Green, KY.
By checking the local Nexrad Radars we note extensive ground clutter with
extended reflections beyond, which we believe relates to a propagation
mechanism contributed by very hot days and cool nights. . This morning
there were similar patterns on Pittsburg, Pa, State College, Pa and Buffalo,
NY Nexrads. We wish to appeal to ATV stations especially in these
locations and even further East and to the West to be on the lookout for ATV
DX to the West.. Please give us a call on 3930. Thanks.
73,
 Farrell Winder, W8ZCF, Cincinnati, Ohio

2. Satellite battery could put Nittany Lion paw print in space

On Feb. 3, 2006, astronauts launched the space age's strangest satellite: an
old spacesuit fitted with a transmitter, a temperature sensor and some
batteries. The suit was a DIY satellite. It circled the Earth twice,
repeating
a greeting recorded in multiple languages; ham radio operators listened in
as
it passed overhead. Then the batteries died. The 2013 model will be
considerably more advanced, including the battery, which was designed by
three
undergraduate students at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.
