Hi Tom,

I have managed to use the HRD sat tracking program to 'remotely' control my
Foxdelta 'copy' of Howards LVB interface, you will need a 'local' PC hooked
up to the interface though.

Run the HRDDDESattrack server on the machine hooked up to the antenna, along
with the HRD rotator software - set HRD to use Nova DDE.

On the machine you want to use to control the antenna, run HRD Satellite
tracker (I guess you may be able to use Nova, or another bit of software
that will use the DDE interface) - in HRD Sat Tracker on this machine,
select DDE server, then select the remote server tab, enter the IP address
of the machine and your password to send the DDE date to the PC hooked up to
the rotator.

Bit of a tricky setup that took me a few hours to suss out, but it works.

Alternatively something like this may do the job (driver software will
create a 'virtual' serial port on your PC):-
http://www.perle.com/products/IOLAN-DS-Terminal-Server.shtml

Have seen a few expensive ones, but your mileage may vary.

Good luck

I have been looking for information on using the TCP interface
on the LVB Tracker. The AMSAT-UK store lists the board
http://shop.amsat.org.uk/shop/article_8/LVB-Traker-USB_TCP-Interface-bare-PCB.
html?shop_param=cid%3D9%26aid%3D8%26
but the US AMSAT store does not carry it. Google searches
have revealed nothing other than ads that indicate the tracker
has the TCP interface.

I am very interested in contacting someone who has actually
used the TCP interface.

Page 100 of the July 2012 QST has a very interesting and
encouraging article on the changing US Amateur Radio
License Populations. I wonder if the AMSAT membership
has experienced the same growth as the hobby in general.
An article on the changing AMSAT membership similar to the
QST article would be very interesting.

CP8 will carry 4 cameras, after the initial mission completed it will
function as a digipeater.

See http://www.uk.amsat.org/?p=8418

Also on the AMSAT-UK site is a vintage video of Space Shuttle STS-47
Endeavour Spacelab-J and links to ITN TV News reports of the Space
Experiment it carried developed by Ashford School for Girls in Kent, UK.

The funding concept of this CubeSat is $1 will sponsor 10 seconds of the
mission and what you get for that 10 seconds is the ability to broadcast a
message from space, ?effectively tweet from space?.

It uses a balloon de-orbit mechanism.

See video at http://www.uk.amsat.org/?p=8435

Stikes me that a $1 donation for a message might be pushing FCC regs a bit
should it be using 437 MHz.
