WARNING ORBITRON USERS!
It may be something that I did, I am not sure, But I run Windows 7
operating system and I downloaded my TLE files from the stoff.pl web
site and there is no data in the file, it wiped out my existing data and
the other TLE file sources (celestrak) do not sync properly with Windows 7.

Orbitron is now not functioning on my Windows 7 based computer.
If one of you nice folks have a solution for me email me direct no need
to clutter the bulletin board.

Myself and another local ham have verified that it is the combination of
Windows 7 and the stoff.pl TLE file.

I am going to also email stoff to tell him about this problem.

Be careful out there!

Looks to me like I need an Elmer.

I am trying to use the least expensive way to do things for now.

Push button of a TS-50 fed by a block downconverter is where I am at now.

I look forward to somebody helping me.

Dear Mani VU2WMY and Mr.Parimala Rangan with others,

To day 5 May 2012 VO-52 was working very well for me on orbit 37868
at 18:01 UTC.

The drift in frequency of the Beacon seems to be only less than 3 KHz upper
than nominal and is reducing gradually because probably the transponder is
heating up.

The SSB quality is very good with no distorsion or overloading.Worked four
stations without problems.

We appreciate the timely and immediate corrective actions from
ISRO and AMSAT-India.

Oh swell. It also works for Xp users as well. *It is not limited to Win7.
I would suggest not doing kep updates until this gets resolved!!
*All the txt files for keps updates are still here but have not much
useable data within and all have timestamps of when the last update was
done. Possibly a formatting issue with celestrak since that is the
source I update from. Is anyone using stoff.pl or space-trak and seeing
similar problems?

Thank you all for the offers to help.

My goals are as follows.

Track and monitor the satellites, I already do this with a manual radio on
VHF.

I can digipeat on the ISS, but not right now due to antenna restrictions.
(No bread man)

I want to build a couple of eggbeaters and have question on them because I
want the UHF on the top of my tower but well built so that any water ingress
will not trash the things.

I am getting a High Sierra 432M7 block down converter that I intend to use
with my TS-50 up/down buttons.

I have Instanttrack now and I looking to interface Instanttune with it.

I am about to build the circuitry for the AA2TX interface with the ON6WG
upgrade but I think someone may have one and could be willing to part with.

I am an electronics tech by trade and able to build the circuit to isolate
the keypresses, but, if I find someone with an interface already built and
willing to sell it, less work. It is getting harder and harder to find
parts. Thankfully Mouser is now active in Canada.

Now I am asking for a Spirit2 controller for my birthday. Is there another
way can do this? sound card perhaps?

OK, so, I want to use the analog satelittes and the pacsats. I have been
fascinated about chasing satellites and now that I know I can do a fair bit
with eggbeater antennas, then so be it.

I am looking forward Elmering.

Alan

Hi,

Does anyone have a pushbutton isolator for use with an hf radio
downconverted to from UHF and used with Instanttune?

An update this morning resolved the empty files. I wonder if we will
ever hear what actually was the problem?

Alan,

Sounds like you have a plan.

Here's a thought---if I had a TS-50 (and a CAT level converter to
serial or USB) and the High Sierra downconverter, I'd spend some time
with SatPC32 and see if I could get it to work (tell the program you
have a Kenwood, and try all options--, TS-790, TS-200, and especially
"Others.").

With some transverter offset frequencies in DOPPLER.SQF, you just
might end up with automated/full CAT control!

Suggest you read about MixW2 and/or AGW Packet Engine as possible
software solutions to printing digital satellites at either 1200 or
9600. The Spirit-2 is an awesome TNC (my favorite), but the number of
satellites you can print with is is pretty low these days. There are
no current PACSATs active, and from what I can tell, none in the
planning stages either.

JE9PEL has very useful how-to information, with screenshots, showing how
AGWPE and UISS work together which are available at:

http://users.belgacom.net/hamradio/uisslinks.htm

This is the UISS site so there is everything you need to know about this
software there too.

Pretty darn ingeneous packaging! Hams, unlike university students, all have
fat fingers and would struggle to extract that 3-part antenna boom. I like
the fabric roll-up concept, but wonder if it would present wind-load
problems in a real-world field application?

I liked the fold away yagi antenna in this video of the OSSI ground station.

I notice that the AMSAT TLE data file
(http://www.amsat.org/amsat/ftp/keps/current/nasabare.txt)
uses what appears to be a "non-standard" format for the BSTAR drag
value in some of the satellites (currently RS-30 HO-68 and SRMSAT).

When the drag value is 0 the entry in the AMSAT files is 00000 0 rather than
the more "standard" 00000+0. A drag value of 0 is certainly a curiosity in
itself.

I realize that we live in a world where a "standard" 8 foot 2 x 4 is 8 feet
long but not
2 inches by 4 inches so there are possibly many "standards" for TLE data.

I solved the problem I was having by switching to
(http://www.celestrak.com/NORAD/elements/amateur.txt).
I am still curious as to why the AMSAT file is different. Does AMSAT get
their data
from a different source or did AMSAT create their own standard for
presenting the data.

thanks, W9KE tom ...

The nasabare.txt file is created from the 2-line elements bulletins by a
little C program I wrote called NASAWASH.
http://www.mustbeart.com/software/nasawash.html

NASAWASH was written to maximize the compatibility of its output. Its main
purpose is to remove any text that isn't part of the two-line element sets,
and generate a "clean" file that any program will accept as a completely
valid stream of two-line element sets.

One of the compatibility issues, historically, has been treatment of "+"
plus signs in the calculation of the checksum. Some programs would ignore
plus signs, and others would add 2 to the checksum for each plus sign. These
two methods are not compatible, except for element sets that don't contain
any plus signs. That's why NASAWASH strips them out.

To create nasabare.txt on the AMSAT server, NASAWASH starts with the text of
the AMSAT bulletin in 2-line format, exactly as emailed out to the KEPS
mailing list. I notice that the plus signs are also missing from the
elements in the KEPS bulletins, very likely for the same reason. I do not
know what exact procedure Ray Hoad uses in generating the bulletins.

Did you encounter a compatibility problem with some program as a result of
the missing plus signs? I'd be interested in more details.
