Sometimes, the -jar command line argument seems to not be in place. The
registry, on windows, contains the specification of how to "run" .jar files.

The registry key, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\java.exe\shell\open\command
is
where to look. The default entry, can be edited to put the string "-jar"
between the path the the java.exe executable and the "%1" argument specifier.

With Java 7, I have

"C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_02\bin\java.exe" -jar "%1"

as the value in mine. All of the quoting is important to have in place
correctly.

And, as usual, if you are futzing around in the registry, make sure you know
what you are doing.

David,
http://tinyurl.com/RS-39-Chibis-M
is the project page for Chibis-M (in English) Click on the radiomonitoring
link on the left side. It usually tells you which freq (and sometimes if)
the satellite is on.

Some of the orbits are very short lifetime but there are some useful ones
there:

DoD (Minotaur I) 350-500 km 40-45?
DoD (Minotaur IV)685 km 72?
NASA CRS/COTS 300 km 51?
EELV 300 x 23,000 km <28?
Sun-Synchronous 500 ? 1000 km 98?

USC has delivered their Aeneas 3U cubesat for launch preparations later this
year. Pretty amazing what they did with a 3U cubesat.

Howie,

A quick check with the IARU satellite frequency coordination list does
not show Aeneas as having been coordinated. Is the IARU not up to date
or was the satellite not coordinated.

I'm pretty positive this isn't in the amateur service, so no coordination
with the IARU would be expected.

http://events.eoportal.org/get_announce.php?an_id=10003839 references a
400-450 SS radio, a 400-500 GMSK beacon, and a 2.4GHz feedpoint mounted
transceiver.

But given that the opportunity is looking for proposals in the field of
communications and propulsion, it sounds like a good chance to team up with
one of the university groups who are working on miniature Ion engines. They
are about 3 inches across and use as little as 36W. A 3U cube could
house one of those and you could target orbital transfer and space
qualification
as the objective. The engine part could be project managed while the
comms and structure could be taken on within AMSAT.

Thanks

David

It looks like Yuri is on the air again. He was heard on A0-27 today, but I

Hi Drew,

Yah - I didn't see any reference to Amateur radio in the link Howie
posted so you're probably right. But while checking there, I also looked
for their Caerus 1U operating on 437.6 MHz, I couldn't find it on the
IARU list. Did I miss it?

No, I don't see it either, and if I recall some of us let them know about
coordination after the fact. Some of the groups certainly ignore or are
ignorant of coordination, or the rules of the service for that matter.

Geez - it's danged frustrating when we bitch about the Russians or
Chinese not bothering to coordinate but to have a USA university such as
USC ignore the concept of coordination of our band is just inexcusable
in my opinion. I'd better stop there!
