Hi Roberto,

Your English is much better than my Italian so no need to apologise for it.

I gather from the link you emailed me that the IR0CK repeater on 145.850 MHz
is connected to Echolink again, it operates as Echolink node 488822 , see in
Google English (R10 = 145.850 MHz):

http://tinyurl.com/3mgw6x4

The decision of IARU Region 1 to establish a procedure that will work
towards disconnecting D-STAR repeaters causing interference in the Amateur
Satellite segment is very welcome.

It does not address the issue of FM repeaters in the satellite segment but
repeaters such as IR0CK (node 488822) depend on being allowed to connect to
the Echolink server which I believe is run from the United States.

I do not know who owns the US Echolink server or what their policy is on
providing connections for nodes that deliberately cause interference to
other services such as the Amateur Satellite Service.

Does anyone know who controls Echolink ?

Echolink.org notified of bandplan violation.

We'll see what happens.

NASA HOSTING FIRST WEST COAST LAUNCH TWEETUP FOR EARTH-OBSERVING SATELLITE

WASHINGTON -- NASA will invite 25 of its U.S. Twitter followers to a
Tweetup expected to culminate in the launch of the first of a new
generation of Earth-observing satellites from Vandenberg Air Force
Base (VAFB) in California.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PDT on Monday, Oct.
24. NASA's NPP satellite is scheduled to launch aboard a United
Launch Alliance Delta II rocket between 2:48 and 2:57 a.m. on
Tuesday, Oct. 25.

The National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System
Preparatory Project (NPP) will observe many facets of our changing
Earth. It will collect critical data on long-term climate change and
short-term weather conditions. With NPP, NASA continues many key data
records initiated by the agency's Earth Observing System satellites,
monitoring changes in the atmosphere, oceans, vegetation, ice and
solid Earth.

During Tweetup activities on Oct. 24, participants will tour
Vandenberg's launch facilities; speak with agency and NPP mission
scientists and managers; and interact with each other and NASA's
social media team. For the early-morning rocket launch, participants
will watch from a special viewing section that will include a
pre-launch concert by "Mobility" from the United States Air Force
Band of the Golden West.

Vandenberg is headquarters for the 30th Space Wing, which manages
space and missile testing for the Department of Defense and places
satellites into polar orbit from the West Coast using expendable
boosters.

Registration opens at noon EDT (9 a.m. PDT) on Tuesday, Sept. 13, and
closes at 5 p.m. EDT (2 p.m. PDT) on Thursday, Sept. 15. NASA will
randomly select 25 participants and create a waiting list. Because
this event takes place on an Air Force base with restricted areas,
registration is limited to U.S. citizens.

Launch management for the mission is the responsibility of NASA's
Launch Services Program at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Well, the Echolink admins would have to rely on people reporting
those repeaters. I think it would also be necessary to work through
IARU Region 1 for this as well. Also note that network
disconnections don't solve potential interference by local users.

Before the weather gets bad I am planning of "redoing" a lot of antennas.?
As part of that process the satellite antennas are to be moved.? At which
time I plan to remove the S band system that worked so?magnificently on
AO-40 (sobsob) and a little bit on AO-51.? With AO-51 declining the
probability of S band?activity ?is remote.? Why am I floating this on the
bb?? To me it appears to be a turning point of what I (we)?would like to do
and what I? (we) can do.? Smarter people than?I have said it will be a long
time before we can really have some L/S activity.? So rather than wear out
my rotors turning some useless hardware I will put it in "mothballs".? With
the hope that I?will have the opportunity to use them again before I get hit
by the bus.
