It's been more than two years since our move to the new QTH and it's
very plain now that I'm not getting back on the birds, so I'm putting
the following equipment up for sale:
SSB Electronics 70cm GaAsFET preamp--$200
SSB Electronics DCW-15B Bias Tee/Preamp sequencer (Qty. 2) w/N
connectors--$75/each.
Above items are plus shipping and insurance from Zip Code 01520 (Holden,
MA). Your choice of UPS or USPS.
For local pickup, I also have a M^2 436CP30 in good shape for $150.
Also only for pickup, the big item: US Tower TMM-433HD tower. This is
a four section crank up, 33 ft. tower. It is complete with the base
plate, lowering and crank-down fixtures (so you can both retract it and
then lay it on the ground), four coax arms, and the inverted vee arm.
The only thing it doesn't have are the "J" bolts that go into the
foundation. I also have a 10 ft. fiberglass crossbeam that I will
inlcude. The whole package for $1,750, way less than half the new
price.

Hi Greg,
The battery current is not really negative
under these conditions. This is just a small
drift in the zero point of the measurement.

the voltage drops?

Ah, interesting. So, values around +/- 0 mean that the battery is (or
thinks it is) fully charged, and the satellite is running on just the solar
panels. Since that happens pretty quickly after start-up (low MET values),
that certainly supports the conclusion that the battery has nearly zero
capacity left in it.
But if it's "fully charged", there must be something else going on, because
I've heard passes where the satellite appears to be in "high power" mode -
several voice, SSTV, and telemetry segments back-to-back - then suddenly
turns off after one of the segments. This is where the reported battery
voltage has remained in the mid- to high-35 volts range, consistent with
high power operation. Did the satellite happen to spin to a less favorable
angle for a moment between telemetry readings, causing the low power mode
threshold to trip?

Hi all,
Thank you all very much for your input and as expected the aluminium pole
isn't an option, so I am going down the route of fibreglass tube with wood
insert.
Just need to source a UK company that can supply the tubing! I have
contacted Engineering Composites and will await a price!
All the best!

Hi Cris
There is an additional benefit with Fibreglass tube.
Just use the wood inserts on the clamping areas, rotator and antenna clamps.
Then the tube will flex in high winds and absorb some wind enegy.
