Ditto
I've used this combination successfully for years with various keyspan
serial to USB adapters, even their 4 port model. Keyspan is now owned by
tripplite. My rotor control interface is home brewed following mark
hammond's article in amsat journal. It works great with yaesu rotor and
macdoppler pro.

I am looking for a 70cm all mode radio to use on VO52, AO7, and FO29. I
have 2m already covered with an Icom 706 original, so just need something
for the UHF side of things. Something like the FT780, FT790, FT790RII,
TS811, TR851A, TR9500, TM455A, IC 451, IC 471, IC490.or FT726 with UHF
module. I would also
be interested in a yaesu FT100D or FT857D for the right price. It needs the
mic and power
cord. Any other accessories aren't really needed. Let me know if you have
one for sale.

He certain was a popular fellow. I noticed on the last AO-51 pass that a guy
would get their calls in and he'd acknowledge & QSL several at a time. This
seemed to work well in managing the pile up.

Getting close to VUCC, 5 more to go!

Rick,

What type of feed line and length do you have?
I use my TS2000 with 15 meters of RG-213 cable without any external preamp.
No problem to copy all sats, VHF and UHF downlinks.

I suspect that one primary reason I'm not hearing the birds as I try several
home brew stationary antennas is the used 440 preamp I bought on eBay. It
seems like the internal TS-2000 internal is better and that shouldn't be.
And just when I'm getting results with these home brewed antennas! Is there
any way I can verify failure in the mirage kpc1/440? I too got tired of
mistakenly putting too much rf in an old ARR preamp I had and fried it,
suggesting that I switch to the mirage amps like those I use at the home qth
  with good results.

Richard,

well here is an easy test to verify function of the pre-amp, if you can
access a local UHF repeater. Just open the repeater without any preamps
(neither internal nor external), and note the S-Meter. Then do the same with
the internal pre-amp and then the external preamp and compare. Use
attenuator if necessary.
That at least should give you an indication if the preamp if the preamp is
working and how it's amplification compares to the internal one. Wouldn't
give you much info about the S/N ratio as compared to the internal. Thats
best tested on a real bird. But the Mirage being a GeAsFET, it should be
quieter.

I recently installed a (ebay'd) mast head Dressler preamp from the 80's, and
the difference is _huge_. The downlink signals went from
'just-about-intelligible' to nice and comfortable readable all the way thru
the pass.

I'm not a grid-square chaser so I'm not familiar with the customs, but
doesn't this seem just a *little* out of touch with the spirit of the rules?

Thank you Alan for the time-saving information !

Actually I wanted to 'upgrade' from the simple soundcard to the
available Signalink and now it is the other way round - hi.

Listening with the pc soundcard this morning produced good results.

And thanks for the link to OZ1PIF's impressive work !

Hi ,
I have to transmit FSK modulated data from a transmitter chip towards
Transceiver(TS2000x) so that I can receive the data in computer. I am
able to control the internal TNC of TS2000x through a software called
Pacterm. Even if the signal power is being displayed on display panel,
no data is being received in computer. I have an option of using the
UNPROTO mode in internal TNC. I am sending AX.25 UI frames to the
transceiver. Even then, nothing appears on computer screen. The
parameter RXERROR count also does not increment (which could have
stated otherwise that the packets are rejected). Can you just tell me
what can be the possible cause? and solution too.. I can also use KISS
MODE (found in transceiver datasheet) but there is no data display in
that also though it says it does not do any packet operation on this
mode and directly forward the data to computer..

Hi Mark,

Thanks, that worked (better, also in XP), now my work-around is not needed.

Still (not sure if the ARISSatTLM developer is reading this board),

Just sharing the results of my recordings of last night:
(using the FCD + HDSDR)

- FM voice works fine

- Xponder works fine (HB9AOB was very clear)

- CW decoding works fine (the Tuning indicator locks on the CW
bump)

- BPSK decoding did not work (I hear & see the signal, but no
decode)

Is the BPSK decoding very sensitive to doppler / freq hops ?

I guess I can stop posting keps now they're otherwise available....
unless anybody tells me that they need them.

Hi Henk.

I've had some issues with decoding BPSK too. Worked fine on the first day,
then unable to decode anything.
Eventually I reloaded the software and played a wav file through the system.
Finally it began decoding again. I don't really know what the problem was.
It still will not send tlm via the internet and I can't get sound
out...Hence the wav files.

Problem is the wav file I have is large so I cant send it to you to try.
Perhaps some one has 30 seconds worth that does decode, then we can use that
as a standard to check our systems.

I've been tracking doppler by hand. Seems to work OK but it's very important
to keep the CW in the 'blue' window.
I would think jumps would not be good. Perhaps frequent doppler updates. -
So very small jumps.

I also heard HB9 last night on the transponder, but in low power mode (45
sec)that is difficult. - I'll wait for some daylight passes.

Good luck

Subject: [amsat-bb] ARISSat TLM decoding using FCD

Just sharing the results of my recordings of last night:
(using the FCD + HDSDR)

- FM voice works fine

- Xpondeo
decode)

Is the BPSK decoding very sensitive to doppler / freq hops ?

Henk, PA3GUO
