Hi Patrick,
I will listen for you on the next pass (7 minutes from now). I could clearly
hear myself on the last pass once it got above 5 degrees. I can copy the FM
and CW TX from AOS to LOS just fine.
Hope to work you,
Jeff - K2AK

Hi!
This was my first attempt on this satellite. CW telemetry at 145.920 was
easy to copy, and I hear CW and SSB through the transponder. It wasn't hatd
to hear the transponder after the satellite was up a few degrees from the
horizon, and I heard my own CW near mid-pass. Maximum elevation here was 33
degrees.
Above 20 or so degrees elevation, I could hear my CW. Near the midpoint, I
briefly heard myself in SSB. Fading is there, but having to adjust my VFO
more often than working VO52 makes this bird more of a challenge.
Although I didn't complete a QSO, I think I heard KN6ZA in CW. I know I
clearly heard AA5PK in SSB starting around 1337-1338 UTC. I will try again
on the next pass at 1508-1517 UTC.

Hello,
Last night I was caught by surprise while listening to Arissat-1 over
Puerto Rico the voice of a boy called Wesley (KP4WES). It was in
Spanish, and now I found out he's the son of WP4T (Walter) who I know
personally and have worked him on AO51. KP4WES is only 9 years old!
Here's a video of what I captured last night while Arissat-1 was over
Puerto Rico:

Hi Ray!
I wasn't calling CQ on the last pass at 1509-1517 UTC.
As I expected, I could not hear myself through the
transponder on this lower pass (maximum elevation
15 degrees). I copied more CW telemetry at 145.920,
one CW signal near the center of the transponder,
and listened a bit to the 145.950 FM/SSTV downlink.
I got the secret word and a couple of SSTV images
that I will feed into my laptop at home later. Signals
were good, especially when I twisted my Elk log
periodic s-l-o-w-l-y to compensate for the fading,
which didn't seem as pronounced as on the earlier
pass. My radios on both passes were my two
FT-817NDs that I normally use for SSB/CW satellite
work, both connected to the same antenna via a
2m/70cm diplexer.
Even without the 70cm antenna, this seems to be a
fun satellite. If I get a shot at a pass with higher
elevation, I'm sure I can make QSOs with my 5W
station. I will also try copying 145.950 at home
tonight, with a radio and antenna in my apartment.
Thanks to all who worked to get this in orbit and
on the air!

Hi Mike!
Thanks for coming back to me on the same VO52
pass. Hopefully the New Mexico gang will be on the
next VO52 pass. After working you, I didn't stay on
therr for too long, as I was getting set for the
next ARISSat-1 pass I listened in on.
By the way, you can see my QTH here in the park by
searching for 33.648383 N 112.0 W on Google Maps,
Google Earth, etc. Nice open (and quiet, RF-wise) for
satellite work. :-)

What is the life expectancy of ARISat-1?
How long till the orbit degrades and it burns away?

I found that a homebrew single transistor untuned preamp (page 4.42 of the
RSGB's VHF/UHF handbook) was sufficient to lift pictures out of the noise -
thought the funcube developers might reflect on this , looks like it's an
essential feature for the ground station.

No joy on the 12:00Z pass (48 deg max elev) here...? could hear the CW beacon,
BPSK,?and FM transmissions with deep fades, but otherwise?quite well.? No
other
stations heard in the transponder passband, nor could I hear myself on the
downlink, from 5 to 75 watts uplink using omnis (M2 eggbeater w/preamp on the
downlink, homebrew turnstile on the uplink).? Next pass here not until 04:30Z.
It doesn't appear that the satellite has any active or passive attitude
control
system.? I have heard?that the?spin?should eventually settle around the same
axis as the antenna, but is there any reasonable hope that that would happen
during the satellite's operational lifetime?

Is it possible as the analog transponder that multiple signals on the uplink
reduce the downlink signal up to a point where we are unable
to hear anything? As some are reporting using very low power i guess they
where probably alone when they made their transmission through
the transponder?
