Hello everybody,
I've just had my first try with ARISSat-1 this morning (max elevation 22
degrees), the CW2 signal is audible from AOS till LOS though the Morse Code
Decoder had some trouble decoding the audio. Here's what I've got "ARIISATQ
RS 1S NSPSI OET 327 M IH~30C CP +~3 C B~ 35N~TA IUHIS IEISSATL RST50E~VIET
I5TS~UE+RT Q K", the rest is probably garbage as I tried to vary the LOCUT
and HICUT of the SSB filter. I have a Kenwood TS-2000 transceiver, could
anybody suggest optimal values for these settings? No BPSK frame was
decoded, will try again!

Dear All,
I am trying to use Wisat32 for unattended automated satellite tracking and
have some questions if anyone could help me clarify:
1. Is it possible for Wisat32 to run a normal .bat batch file say 20 seconds
before AOS and 20 seconds after LOS? This is used for power on and off to
the satellite equipment. Previously WISP used to be able to do this, but I
do not see the settings in Wisat32.
2. Is there any setting to ignore passes below a predefined elevation, for
example below 5 degrees.
Thank you.

I could not make RADIOSCAF (ARISSAT) show up in MacDoppler earlier
today. When all else fails, re-install! I downloaded the program file
again and installed it. All appears working now.

Worked VK2ZAZ briefly around 0144UTC
Signals quite weak but readable. A couple of other stations heard but
too noisy to get call signs.
Nothing heard on the following (low) pass.

I, and many others were able to get into the transponder at 4:00Z on
August 6th. I used about 40w into a Lindenblad on TX and another omni
on receive. One 'window' seemed much better for all of us than did the
others, probably having something to do with the orientation of the RX
antenna. I say this because the BPSK and FM signals were not very low
in the other windows, whereas at the same time the linear band seemed
quite less powerful.
It's an amazing thrill to work our AMSAT SDX for the first time, and
my sense is that any VO-52 class station should be able to hear its
downlink.

I made RADIOSCAF-B lemonade this morning at approx 8:50 UTC:
Ingredients:
One (1) RADIOSCAF-B satellite w/missing(?) receive antenna
Twenty-five (25) watts of rf (CW) to 11 elements
11 elements for receive
My downlink was not super strong, but certainly Q5.
This was a maximum 6 degree elevation pass for me. Six degrees.
This, and reading Bruce's description of WB4SON's success with QRP leads me
to ask, are we SURE there's not a 70cm antenna attached?
Antenna or no, RADIOSCAF-B or whatever you wish to name it, I think this
is a raging success of the platform. Congratulations to all involved.

I set up an entry in Doppler.sqf, originally as ISS and now as RADIOSCAF-B
for the ARISSat1 CW and telemetry frequencies. SSB receive only so TX set
to 0 MHz, step 20Hz. Unfortunately the doppler correction is not following
the received frequency correctly. The rate of change is wrong so I lose
lock on the telemetry decode after less than 1 minute. Any ideas as to what
I have missed?

Tried to work the 1201Z 06AUG2011 pass of ARRISSat-1 from FM26 this
morning without much luck. I have been successfully working the FM
birds for a while but this is my first attempt with a linear bird. I
was wandering if someone with a similar setup could verify my settings?
Equipment as follows:
Icom IC-910H
Gulf Alpha 2M/70cm dual band yagi. 2M->6 element 70cm->8 element antenna
LVB tracker box connected to a Yaesu G-5500 Az/El Rotator controlled by
Ham Radio Deluxe.
In HRD I set the following:
Rx - Center of 145.930 USB
Tx - Center of 435.750 LSB
I set it to control doppler on *both* freqs.
I am pulling the keps from Celestrak now.
This morning's pass was to North->South and to the West of my
location(FM26au). I noticed that the Rx was always being set lower than
the center freq, and the Tx was lower before max elev and higher after
Max elev. I had about a 9min window. About a 1/3 of the way into the
pass I thought I heard some garbled voice. In the last 1/4 of the pass
I definitely was hearing some CW. I can post the recorded .wav file if
necessary.
Would greatly appreciate any help.

Hi,
Has anyone used an FT-847 and SignaLink USB to copy, or attempt to copy, the
BPSK telemetry? Reports of success or failure equally useful. In either
case, it would be helpful to know approximately when the rig was
made/purchased, due to the numerous running production mods. There have been
a few reports of people being unable to "print" the BPSK telemetry, even
though the signal is good, and the CW decodes well.
Please reply off list.

Hi Dick,
Is your hardware/software control working?
Is the CAT interface known to work?
When tracking the satellite-does it show "C+" in the top right
window of setting options? It must have the "+" or it won't adjust
the radio. You can set it to "+" by default by checking the Setup/Options
CAT Control setting.
If the above works, but it's "drifting" out of lock--your Keps may be bad!
If you are tracking, but it seems "off" I'd check your PC clock and the Keps
you are using. The ones currently available via Celestrak seem to work
fine. Just make sure you're using them :)
Last night and this AM my station printed and sent over 100 frames, fully
automated while I was away. That means the Keps are getting quite good.

In HRD, do you have the transponder set up as inverted (RX mode USB, TX mode
LSB, Linear Inverting Transponder button clicked)?? If you have it set up
right,
the TX frequency should track in the opposite direction as you tune the RX.
It is normal for the TX frequency to be lower in the early part of the pass
and
higher later:? you are trying to maintain a constant frequency received at the
satellite, and the motion of the satellite ADDS to?your uplink frequency as it
approaches you, and subtracts from it as the satellite moves away.

On the ARISSat-1 pass just ended here (23 degrees max elevation), results
were about the same as yesterday. I heard my CW downlink for about a
minute, peaking 559. Several other CW signals were in there, but I
couldn't get
their calls due to the deep fades.
Bruce appears to be right that the transponder's performance depends
largely on the spacecraft's orientation.

Hi!
This was my first attempt on this satellite. CW
telemetry at 145.920 was easy to copy, and I
hear CW and SSB through the transponder. It
wasn't hatd to hear the transponder after the
satellite was up a few degrees from the horizon,
and I heard my own CW near mid-pass. Maximum
elevation here was 33 degrees.
Above 20 or so degrees elevation, I could hear my
CW. Near the midpoint, I briefly heard myself in
SSB. Fading is there, but having to adjust my VFO
more often than working VO52 makes this bird
more of a challenge.
Although I didn't complete a QSO, I think I heard
KN6ZA in CW. I know I clearly heard AA5PK in SSB
starting around 1337-1338 UTC. I will try again on
the next pass at 1508-1517 UTC.
