Do "we" know why some has tremendous success hearing 145.95 - while some
passes had nothing on 145.95?
I experienced both - just a "keying up" and dead silence for a few seconds
at 1:03AM PDT this morning, and
wonderful, full kids' message during the 2:38AM PDT pass.

Reception reports of the ARISSat-1/Kedr signals flooded in from around the
world to the arissat1 mailbox during the 20 hour test period last weekend.
Some of the areas reporting were: South Africa, Japan, Hawaii, Sweden,
Europe, China, Brazil, Barbados, Czech Republic, United States and Ukraine.
In all over 50 reports from 20 different countries were received. The
battery voltage went from 30.09 V to 26.3 V during the test. On to Wednesday!

Hi all!!
Have been searching for a method of recording sstv in the field and post
processing it at home. MMSSTV uses a .mmv format. It (the audio
format)doesn't look well supported.
I'd prefer something like .wav which is pretty plain jane.
Any ideas? Not married to MMSSTV, just the first one I'd found that was easy
to use.
Thanks,
Norm

Google Scanner Recorder or ScanRec, this may fit the bill...

The real problem at this point is format. The sstv software uses an odd
encoding. I can't find any converters.(from .wav to .mmv)
What to do..

I am looking for a Kenwood TM451A 70cm radio with 2m receive. Must be able
to transmit in the 430-440 range as well as the repeater subband portion of
70cm. Anyone have one they are looking to sell?

The solution is simple. As long as the quality is OK it doesn't matter what
format you record and save in as long as you can play it back on your PC.
Play back the file with whatever app is required, feed your PC sound card
output into its input (or alternatively use something like "Virtual Audio
Cable") and use MMSSTV (or any other such program) as normal.

JE3HHT Mori-san developed great software programs, MMTTY, MMSSTV, and
MMVARI, for radio amateurs. Kudos to Mori-san.
MMTTY, MMSSTV and MMVARI have a facility that records the RX signals into an
audio file and even plays them back to tune the program parameters. The
audio file, however, is in the MM proprietary format named MMV, and cannot
be played back with common players, such as Media Player.
This program converts the MMV audio file to the WAV format.

Did anyone in New England (or other locations in the same general area)
receive ARISsat-1's VHF test messages on the ~0230EDT (0630Z) pass? I got
nothing at all using an HT connected to a 2M eggbeater. I usually receive
the ISS fine with this, but nothing at all from ARISsat-1. Of course I know
it was operating generally since there were lots of reception reports.
However, I did not happen to see any around that time/location. It was not
the highest pass, but I could not stay up any later!
Hoping for better luck in a few days at high power.
Thanks,

Since you were using a 2M Eggbeater for the downlink antenna, I presume you
were
trying to receive the 145.950 downlink... Note that ARISSat-1 has a
fraction of
the power output that the ISS radio has, so your ability to receive the ISS
doesn't automatically translate to the ability to receive a 250 mW signal from
ARISSat-1.
Also, many have reported receiving only a carrier on some passes, while others
received the voice and SSTV transmissions. I, myself, received nothing on
145.950 on two passes (even with a preamp), but received a noisy SSTV pic on
the
437.55 crossband link on a different pass.
Hopefully, the "real thing" will be better. We'll see on Wednesday!
George, KA3HSW
