That guys for the responses ? that is what I was looking for. Since the
changes occur around 2300z, and the pass is at 2327z, it looks like it has
the potential to be in either mode.
Thank you!

Didn't make that FD Satellite Contact?
Get outdoors again on Sunday 24 July Noon to 1600 local time to join the
annual Golden Packet attempt.
See www.aprs.org/at-golden-packet.html for east coast
or http://aprs.org/pct-golden-packet.html for west coast
We need you with your D700 to drive/hike to the top of some of the highest
mountains in the USA and set up as a portable APRS digipeater to see if we
can link a Golden Packet across thousands of miles.
There is an attempt along the Appalachian Trail from Alabama to Maine and
along the Pacific Crest trail from San Diego to Seattle. Good portable
stations are needed on many mountain tops! See the above web page for the
planning.
IN particular we need stations in the East:
* MT Washington
* Mt Greylock,
* Central Maine,
* Mid NH area,
* Georgia,
* Huntsville,
* Lookout Mountain TN
* and more?
Out west we need:
* Seattle
* Washington State
* Oregon
* Northern California,
* Bay area
* SoCal
* San Diego
* and More
I'm updating those pages as we speak, so tune in daily to see progress.
Less thatn 2 weeks to go!

I am wondering how many Russian KOSMOS awards have been/were issued?
Anybody have any info on them?
I was cleaning the shack up and after dusting off the walls, I noticed
mine from 1998 with number 51-RS on it.
I know N1JEZ has one with a similar number on his. Anybody have any
idea if they still issue the award?
Are they still issuing the JARL FUJI Award or the SA-AMSAT award and
more? I might have some real dinosaurs here on my walls...

Well, I just checked the AMSAT web page which is where I should have
started in the first place, and see that the SA-AMSAT award is still
viable.. stuck my foot in my mouth as usual...

There was a glitch just as control was about to be handed over to the

we did change from having the south africa award issued in south africa
with their number to a U.S. issued number. if you have one of the
original ones, i guess they are a bit more of a collectors item than the
U.S. issued ones. i have number 17 of the original south africa issued
certificates. they issued number 1-36 and then we started issuing them
as US1 and are up to US169.
now go figure this one.... i have vucc satellite number 17. i have
amsat's century award #21 and since 1977 when it was first started, we
are only up to number 40.

BJ,
The glitch was a non confirmation of the gaseous vent arm retract. They
turned a camera to it and validated that it had in fact retracted and
resumed the count from there. about a 2 minute hold.
A nominal launch, good enough to eliminate the OMS-1 Burn.

It was excellent coverage from NASA-TV. I had to see the last one.
They were commenting how this is the 30th anniversary of the shuttle
program and it occurred to me that this month is the 40th anniversary
of when I began working at Goldstone. I was there for the final two
Apollo landings.
I also reflected on my 1999 visit to the Cape visitor center and
taking the tour. Unfortunate that was a couple weeks before a
launch. My parents wintered outside Orlando in those years.
Hard to believe so many years have passed.

I heard that being mentioned.
I was surprised, however, that the count resumed at T-31 seconds where it
was halted. I thought that it would be restarted at a point earlier in the
sequence, such as T-9 minutes. I don't ever recall a launch, even as far
back as Mercury, in which a countdown was stopped so close to ignition and
then continued from where it left off.
> A nominal launch, good enough to eliminate the OMS-1 Burn.
I noticed that.
It's too bad that there was no live TV transmission of the ET separation
seen from the tank itself. I always liked the view of the orbiter heading
off.
