Hi all!
My wife and I are heading down to the Bahamas in a few weeks. What are the
chances of getting a reciprocal license once I get to Nassau?
Thanks,
Norm

If this is true, the last thing I am worried about is DX, I saw a tv show that
talked about the mini ice age in the 1800's and they mentioned the cause was a
lack of solar activity. Time to be cutting a lot of wood and buying more
blankets if this is going to go on for 2 decades. The show had to be on
Discovery or History channel.

I haven't googled this(yet), but there has to be a trend and when did the
decline start(sunspots)?

If we are headed towards a mini ice age, time to get rid of the hybreds and
start burning more fossel fuels

You can also so some Google searches and lots of info will pop up.

Have fun in the Bahamas!? I did a microdxpedtion back in March from the
Caymans and had a blast working the birds.

Five-year-old satellite CALIPSO took its 3 billionth image June 2 - the
image showe a vertical look at the massive smoke plume from the wildfires in
Arizona.

CALIPSO has traveled more than 750 million miles as it orbits Earth. The
amount of data and images it has recorded would fill 10,500 DVDs or 75,000
CDs ... so far.

Jeremy,

Call???

The connection between sunspot activities and planetary temperatures is
hotly debated. There is LOTS of information out there on it. I was just
commenting on the ham aspects, as some of the others quickly lead to highly
political, and politicized, issues.

73s,

Alan
WA4SCA

PS I already have lots of stacked wood. ;)

Hello all,

Over the last couple of days, we have been seeing some extended
operational times after turning AO-51 ON. Your reports from around
the world for the next few days will be especially helpful!

Information about when it's ON and when it's OFF is of great interest
right now and for the next few days. The best place to let everybody
know is here: http://oscar.dcarr.org/

Thanks!

Hi All,

I have received some news regarding FalconSat-3 and the amateur payload, I
have posted it on my website http://wordpress.projectoscar.co.uk/?p=720 and
hopefully we will get use of it soon! The amateur payload can run up to 4w's
of power so could easily be used digital mobile, no frequency has been
release as yet, but I have asked if it could be made available!

Thanks,

Chris - M0DQO

Nominations must be submitted to the AMSAT-NA office by close of business
today. Procedures are reproduced below.

73s,

Alan
WA4SCA
AMSAT Corporate Secretary

========================================

It is time to submit nominations for the upcoming open seats on the
AMSAT-NA Board of Directors. The deadline is June 15th. A valid nom-
ination requires either one Member Society, or five current individual
members in good standing, to nominate an AMSAT member for the position.

Four director's terms expire this year:

Barry Baines, WD4ASW
Alan Biddle, WA4SCA
Drew Glasbrenner, KO4MA
Tony Monteiro, AA2TX

The four candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be
seated as full Board members for two year terms. The two candidates
receiving the next highest number of votes will be seated as alternate
Board members for one year terms.

Beginning this year, in addition to traditional submissions of written
nominations which remains unchanged and is the preferred method, initial
nominations may be made by electronic means.=A0 These include e-mail,
FAX, or electronic image of a petition. Electronic petitions should be
sent to MARTHA@xxxxx.xxx or faxed to 301-608-3410. Written nominations,
consisting of names, calls, and individual signatures, should be mailed
to:

AMSAT-NA
850 Sligo Ave #600
Silver Spring, MD, 20910

No matter what method is used, petitions MUST arrive no later than
June 15th at the AMSAT-NA office. If the nomination is a traditional
written nomination, no other action is required. If it is other than
this, i.e. electronic, a verifying traditional written petition MUST
be received at the AMSAT-NA office at the above address within 7 days
following the close of nominations on June 15th. ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS
WITHOUT THIS SECOND, WRITTEN VERIFICATION ARE NOT VALID UNDER THE EXIST-
ING AMSAT-NA BYLAWS.
