AMSAT/APRS?

Did anyone capture any of the Phonesat UHF beacon data? The NASA AMES folks
are asking. So far, no one has sent them any data (to the email address
they provided below). I do remember someone saying they could hear it but
not decode it. Any others?

Of course the APRS tracking was received by all, and it made a nice track on
APRS.FI, but the question was the UHF downlink.

Hi!

I know this question has been asked before!

Could someone give me a lesson on how to get the NOVA Internet Keps Update
to work again from the Space-Track homepage.

There is no problems logging in on the Spacetrack homepage using my username
and password.

Hi Sven,

Space-Track has changed and now requires a secure (SSL) login to access
Keplerian elements. You'll notice that your browser uses "https" at the
start of the URL. The secure access isn't currently implemented in Nova.

According to the NLSA website, they are working to adapt Nova to this
change and will release a new version.

Hi.

This is causing some problem here too.

Is it possible to download and then paste them into the NOVA database? -
Perhaps as text files?

You can load TLEs from a text file into the Nova database using the
"Disk file update..." item from the Kep Elements menu.

To get the TLEs into that text file, one could copy and paste from the
Space-Track website. There is also a program called Space-Track TLE
Retriever that can automatically download from the website:

I know everyone will be saddened to hear that Elizabeth Clark has passed
away after a long illness. My heart is breaking for Tom especially but all
of us in the AMSAT family as well will miss her. Elizabeth was one of the
most kind-hearted souls I've met and treated me more like a son than a
friend. In fact, since I left high school, I spent more nights as a guest
of the Clarks than I have with my own mother. I will miss her terribly.
She rests with the angels now.

Interesting results from a major scientific meeting about why the sun is
doing what it is. Bits and pieces of this have been floating around for a
few years, but it now seems to have been made into a coherent theory.

http://preview.tinyurl.com/6cf2hoz

The punch line:

>>"If we are right, this could be the last solar maximum we'll see for a few
decades," Hill said. "That would affect everything from space exploration to
Earth's climate."

Of course when you primarily work satellites, your motto is: "Sunspots? We
don't need no stinking Sunspots!" ;) OTOH, this does have implications FOR
satellites in terms of radiation effects, not all of them good.

As with all scientific theories and predictions, we will have to wait to see
whether it pans out.

I met Elizabeth many times at AMSAT functions. We shared tables during
dinners at Symposiums. She was quiet and loved to see Tom get barbed by his
friends during the evening.
My condolences...
