Hi folks,

I am leaving this Thursday for my annual 7-week trip to Slovakia, grid
locator JN88mf. My Slovak call has been changed to OM3BD. I will be active
on the sats. North American stations, if you did not work me last year,
please contact me for OSCAR 7 mode B skeds, if we will have any mutual
footprints. Last year best DX was Ohio to the west and Virginia to the
south. Too bad HO-68 is not working, looks like no chance for additional
trans-Atlantic FM contacts this year.

Time permitting. there's also a possibility of some portable operations to
different grids, and/or sat expeditions to Austria and Hungary (both less
than 20 miles from my QTH).

73, Bill NZ5N/OM3BD

Yep.
Traditionally, a simplex channel is one that can ONLY receive or transmit
but not both, as in a telemetry beacon or a
broadcast radio or TV station.
Half-duplex refers to a channel where both reception and transmission can
take place but only one at a time. Your
operation of an FM repeater, for example, is half-duplex although the
repeater is actually operating full-duplex on two
frequencies.
Full-duplex refers to a system that receives and transmits simultaneously. A
wired telephone and cellphone come into
this catagory as does nost peoples use of a lineat satellite transponder.

Hello guys
I am sorry my delay. My email server is
having some problems; as a result, my email was not working.
Thanks to Mark, for his assistance and
suggestions about the shipment of QSL cards to me.
As he said, USA stations as well
stations from other countries; can send its QSL card via direct at my
address in
qrz.com.? The mail from USA to Cuba is working, however; the
mail from Cuba to USA is not working. This is the reason that John, K8YSE
have been
helping, resending my USA QSL cards into USA.
Please, if you had a contact with me,
send your QSL card to me. I will confirm all my contacts. If you sent your
QSL to me,
but I didn’t receive it; please, try again.

Hot off the presses, you don't want to miss out on these new additions
to the AMSAT online store for 2011.

The latest from Gould, WA4SXM, Getting Started With Amateur Satellites -
2011. Excellent for the beginner to learn the ins and outs of the most
popular satellites. Also contains information on ARISSat-1, P3 Express
and AMSAT Fox.

There is a new 2011 Frequency chart, updated May, 2011 by Mike, N1JEZ.

Catch a fly ball or keep the sun off your head with the new 2011
Baseball Cap

Show off your support for ARISSat-1 with a handsome red Polo Shirt or
gray T-Shirt

Visit the AMSAT online store and see pictures and pricing to your door.

Getting to amsat.org works for me this morning.

Yesterday evening between 1800 through perhaps 2200 Central time I could get
to amsat.org on the PC that uses OpenDNS but the laptop running the default
Comcast DNS gave me the server not found error. Both DNS are working now
over here.

No problems from here in the Phoenix AZ area, using two 3G mobile-phone
networks (AT&T, T-Mobile) and two wired ISPs (AT&T via T1s, Cox Cable
via 15Mbps fiber). E-mails through this list have been coming in without
any apparent delay.

The AMSAT.ORG computer has been upgraded and moved to a new location (still
on the UCSD campus). The new location required that a new IP address be
assigned. The transition should theoretically be seamless, but some users
may have trouble until their network's DNS servers take notice of the update.

Unless your network admin has done something unusual, any problems should
clear up by themselves within a few days at most.

Please report any ongoing problems to me (kb5mu@xxxxx.xxx or
paul@xxxxxxxxx.xxx if the problem prevents email from getting through to
amsat.org).

I'm still learning about SATs but I just was curious if my experience was
typical regarding CW activity.

On most passes, I am lucky to hear a single CW station on FO29 or other
linear transponder birds.

I monitor during the week from my desk when MacDoppler tells me a pass is
coming up.

Is this fairly typical during the week?

Hi Tom, NY4I

There is more CW activity on VO-52 here over Europe, 3 or 4 stations on a
single pass.

Try over USA

I'm still learning about SATs but I just was curious if my experience was
typical regarding CW activity.

On most passes, I am lucky to hear a single CW station on FO29 or other
linear transponder birds.

I monitor during the week from my desk when MacDoppler tells me a pass is
coming up.

Is this fairly typical during the week?

Thanks,
