It's still on at 0912utc too! Wow...this is neat.
Robert, could you tell if the trasmitter on was ON during eclipse, or did it
come on when it entered sunlight?

scheduled. Right now the ones below are loaded, and at 1 watt, but
only if the battery is in good shape. All this was passed to me from

Those Landwehrs are great preamps. I had an issue similar to Mark's, except
it was the transmit side of the Tohtsu relay that had the problem. I could
receive fine but had high SWR during TX. Unlike Mark, I did risk a shot of
spray, which didn't cure the problem. But then ran a sheet of paper between
the contacts and it has worked fine ever since.

AO-51 was in great shape as it passed south above the Pacific Ocean
this morning (6/3/2011 1410z). No one else was on, but I had a nice
S9+ full quieting downlink on my uplink for the entire pass.
The birds footprint was still in daylight when it went LOS, so even
though it was 1000mi west of the sun line when it dipped below my
horizon, it was still in sunlight at that point.

Hey Kevin,
A real stretch was working Hawaii from Alberta. I worked Richard WH6FC on
AO51, from my mobile, with Richard using a Arrow with his handheld. He also
has a nice QSL card. The pass was a minute and a half, and a degree or so of
elevation. Gotta love it!

Hi AMSAT-BB:
Is it bad form to call the NA1SS during a pass in a vain attempt to
make a contact? I am not trying to stalk them (well actually...) but
this has always been a dream of mine since I got my Amateur Radio
golden ticket.
But I am trying to wake up early in the morning when presumably the
ISS crew is active and call CQ.
Do folks call CQ NA1SS? Its this bad form?
I also don't know how to tell if the FM repeater is on (I have read
several links on how to make contacts but they are vague, its more or
less monitor 145.800Mhz and go from there).

Aloha
I plan to try the next pass of AO-51 (precluding lightening and rain).
My window will be approx from 0325 local (0135Z) to about 0331L
and will include Ca, Nv and a part of Utah. A good pass for Hawaii.
Hope to hear anyone. AO-51 will have been out of eclipse for
several minutes at that point. Mahalo

I feel stupid after Googling some more. So to verify, when the
repeater is in APRS mode, its not in FM mode?
So if I AX.25 frames aren't flying by me, it means someone is
potentially operating the radio (minus technical difficulties)?
Is all of above correct?

Hello Robert,
I do not know if it will be on for you. No reports from west coast of US on
this last pass, so I don't know if it stayed up or not.

Hi Robert,
KL7AA has a new ground station which is "parking lot mobile". We deploy it
occasionally and will mount it on the roof hopefully this summer.
Ops N6SPP, N6PG and myself AL4S are available to qso either on the ground
station or by arrow or elk handhelds.
Looking forward to a KH6-KL7 sat-qso in the future. There is a link on my
qrz.com webpage with a short movie on my first qso on the KL7AA ground station
(Courtesy N6PG).
Cheers,

Aloha
Unless someone has set up a strange repeater there is absolutely
no doubt AO51 was alive and well as she came out of eclipse moments ago.
I was able to hear myself perfectly on the downlink (145.880 up and
435.150 down). Unfortunately, the footprint from here only touched the
west coast. Had an Alaska station been on, I am sure there would have
been a QSO. The signal was strong the entire pass.
(Could I be missing something?).

Aloha all
Sorry for the delay re: the last 51 pass over Hawaii. Unfortunately,
nothing heard. As I was in the field with the VX-7R I did not have
duplex capabilities as yesterday with my ground station. However,
I heard no quieting nor stations on the west coast. I assume AO-51
was off. Yesterday was a different story. The bird was strong.
Tomorrow's another day.
73 and a great weekend to all

Hi folks,
i owned since 1990 the Rotator G-5400B together with the Trakbox.
As I have problem with it and as have renewed my antennas, I decided to
change the
Also the rotator and have bought the Yaesu G-5500.
Today I received and set it up to see if it works perfectly before I install
it
On the roof.
I saw a difference between the old and the new control box, in fact the
azimuth display of the old one
Shows starting from left to right the following scale:
180 - 225 - 270 - 315 - 0 - 45 - 90 - 135 - 180
360
S W N E S
While the new one shows starting from left to right the following scale:
0 - 90- 180 - 270 - 360 - 90
N E S W N E
Do not know why these difference and sounds so strange to me as I have used
For a long time the old one.
Continuing with my settings, I have plugged the cable from the new Control
box and the
Trakbox and as I have as parking 270?, I saw the azimuth needle going to the
left and it stops on
About 90? E. The needle seem to be on the right position but not on the
right side.
At this time I'm a bit confused.
Anybody can help me to get out of this confusion?
Thanks in advance

Please check QRZ info WA4NVM or WA4HFN for a new list of 10 hams in em55
and skeds are ok. It may take a little time to complete ,but you can get it
before you get WAS on the birds or a reply back from the ARRL for VUCC.
Thanks and good hunting

Vince,
You can always take off that face plate - copy the scale (Scan it) and
create your own cover for it. You can set up the rotor the same way as the
old one with north in the middle and use it the same way as the old one. I
have done that with many rotors to get the orientation the way "I" wanted
it. Many rotors have the extra 90degrees to cover a pass but it is not
necessary.
Good luck with it..
