My XYL and I saw Endeavour and the ISS in close formation at 30 degrees
elevation on the 04:50 am pass over Maryland this morning, both objects
equally bright and separated by about half the diameter of the full moon. The
final separation burn occurred at 04:38 am, and NASA TV announced a separation
distance of 13,500 feet ten minutes later at 05:00 am.

Hi!
Thanks to whoever kept AO51 running for us out here in the
western USA to use during the 2300 UTC pass. Hopefully
there is a way to keep it going longer, allowing for more of
the world to get a chance to still use this satellite. It sounded
pretty good here.

AO-51's computer has been running for over 5 hours now. We have left the
satellite in repeater mode 145.88/435.15 for the time being, at over 2
watts. We are very surprised by this development to say the least.
Without Whole Orbit Data we are flying a bit blind, so would really like
to know what the satellite is doing in eclipse. I'm assuming the
transmitter is cutting out, but who knows? Cell 3 is reporting 0.0
volts, so it's clear it has shorted completely.
Please, everyone, everywhere, listen to 435.150 the next 24 hours and
send your reports to me or to the -bb. Southern hemisphere observations
are most very welcome.

Hi Drew,
The AO-51 transponder has now been on with very strong downlink signals for
three consecutive passes over VK/ZL. AOS at 0340 UTC, 0519 UTC and 0659
UTC. Worked VK on both the later passes with excellent signals. On each
pass AO-51 came out of eclipse a few minutes before AOS.

Thanks for your report, Nick! Seeing it still up is quite encouraging!
Everyone--Please keep the reports coming. Please also post to
http://oscar.dcarr.org/
For stations in Australia, South Africa, South America, etc---we need to
know if the transmitter is ON during eclipse. We cannot collect and store
telemetry since the software to do so is not uploaded at this time, and the
U.S. does not see any eclipses at all right now.

According to Roscosmos, the ISS will have its orbit raised 3.74 km Friday.
This will result in a "slippage" of predicted times of approximately 70
seconds per day until the Keps catch up. The AMSAT NASA.ALL Keps will
probably not reflect this until next week, so be certain to update from
Celstrak or Space Track.

Please read subject line.
Observers are still encouraged to continue reports on dcarr Sat Status page.
It will be several hours before the bird is visible here; we'll turn it on
again--perhaps on the 1515utc pass here, or the one after.

Do you think that if we asked real, real, nicely they'd go boost AO-51 for
us while they're up there? :-)
Just kidding - I know the reasons why this could never realistically be
done. But it does give me a great deal of appreciation for how reliable a
satellite can be when someone else is doing the stationkeeping work for us
who has resources beyond what we could ever imagine.

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me if when operating odd-split (rx on 440, then when you
press the PTT is switches to 2m. Aka half-duplex) using the 857 if it is
possible to control not only the downlink, but also the uplink when you
press the PTT?

Hello All,
I have an old Landwehr preamp that apparently uses the MGF1402 device
(does that sound right?). It's not working so I presume it's the
GaAsFET.
Can the MGF1302 be substituted for the original MGF1402? Or can
anybody recommend another device for the 70 cm Landwehr?
I need to do something...
Thanks in advance!

Zack,
As far as I have observed in operating the FT857's I have, CAT does not
update anything when in transmit mode. My downlink radio updates at the
programmed frequency delta but my uplink radio only updates when you let go
of the PTT.

That is what I am gathering, so it sounds like I am going to need to look
for an uplink radio as well.
This equipment is not for me - I am heading sat operations for Field Day, so
I am trying to get us on the linear birds for the event.
Thanks for the responses!
