And you can still use the FM equipment you bought on AO27, SO50, and SO67.
I spent less than $200 on my FM satellite setup this year. It consists of a
used Kenwood TM251A for $99, an Arrow antennas dualband J pole for $50, and
a 50 foot run of 9913 flex for $40. It is still working fine on the other 3
sats.

Sadly, ARRL reports that Ben Stevenson, W2BXA, has passed away. He was 97
and active on the air almost until the end. See
_http://www.arrl.org/news/noted-dxer-ben-stevenson-w2bxa-sk_
(http://www.arrl.org/news/noted-dxer-ben-stevenson-w2bxa-sk)
In addition to the many achievements listed in the article, Ben and I made
the first-ever two-way contact by satellite-to-satellite relay in any radio
service, using AO-7 and AO-6 in 1975.
Ben was a good friend for nearly 40 years. I'll miss him.
