Clarifications:

We will only be on one, MAYBE two of the JOTA frequencies at a time.

There are going to be around 200 scouts, not 400-500.

Subject: [amsat-bb] KD8KSN Active Tomorrow (4/30) for Boy Scout Demo

Hi All,

I have been asked to do a few satellite demos for some Boy Scouts tomorrow
afternoon on Horn?s Hill, Newark Ohio. The location sits about 400-500?
above the rest of the terrain which is great for low passes, but there are
several trees to contend with. It would be great if a few people could call
so the scouts could hear a typical exchange, and it would be really great if
whoever calls could give their state as well.

Here are the passes I plan to be on:

AO27 30/1817z 50*

AO51 30/1942z 15*

Maybe...
AO27 30/1957z 19*

I will be operating with my usual call, or I might be operating using W8CBF.
Grid will still be EN80.

We will also be on HF:

JOTA Scout Frequencies
>
> Band
>
> 80-meter
> 3.940 MHz
>
> 40-meter
> 7.190 MHz
>
> 20-meter
> 14.290 MHz
>
> 10-meter
> 28.390 MHz

Sorry I can't provide more details about the event. I believe there were a
few organizational issues. The passes and HF ops will be dependent on who
all shows up, band conditions and weather. There are supposedly 400-500
scouts that will be coming through.

If you would like a card, send me the QSO details and I will send you one -
no return necessary.

73!

Of course it is busy on the "prime time" passes. That's why they exist - for

I am not suggesting that you create your own version of that codec Don. I am
suggesting that you can put this codec into a design to make it work with
D-Star
now. Later, if another codec becomes popular, if you've done the design
right,
you could plug in another codec that would change the form of the coded data
and
recognize that form for decoding and presto, you swap in the new codec and you
don't have to worry about being dependent on D-Star. In a sense, this is
exactly the thing that the FM-USB-LSB-Digital knob does on your existing
multi-mode rig.

You just have to think about D-Star as a mode, and not as a "rig" or a
"standard" and move on to experimenting with what you can master instead of
only
what you can "make".

I'm often on the early morning passes of SO-50 and there are many times that
I call CQ for the entire pass and don't hear any other stations. Not ALL of
them are crowded ALL of the time. We shouldn't try to discourage
newcomers...someday they might join AMSAT and donate money for P3E!

AO27 was nice this afternoon also. A couple of Mexician stations on (one in
EL10) and a few US stations, but no overcrowding.

The DX Cluster has a spot for XF2P saying that
the operation was cancelled due to bad weather.
Can anyone provide any information about this?

The operation was cancelled, however be aware that XE1AY will be conducting
satellite operations from rare grids nearby.

Thank you to all the stations that took part in the Royal Wedding special
