The transmissions will begin on Monday 11 April 2011 at 14:30 UTC and
continue until 10:30 UTC on 13 April 2011.
Due to the fact that the solar panels are covered, the satellite will be
powered only by the onboard battery. The satellite will run in low power
mode. This means that the transmissions will cycle ON/OFF. They will be ON
for 40-60 seconds and OFF for 2 minutes.
145.950 MHz FM Downlink:
FM transmissions will cycle between a voice ID, select telemetry values, 24
international greeting messages in 15 languages and SSTV images. One of the
messages will be a conversation between Yuri Gagarin and ground control.
145.919 MHz CW Beacon
The CW transmissions will be callsign ID, select telemetry, and callsigns of
people actively involved with the ARISS program.
145.920 MHz SSB BPSK-1000 Telemetry
The BPSK transmissions will feature a new 1kBPSK protocol developed by Phil
Karn, KA9Q to be readable in low signal level conditions. The BPSK data will
transmit satellite telemetry. Free ground station soundcard demodulator and
display software will be available.
Note that the linear transponder will not be active during this event.

fault it. The FT-736 with the interface seems to work as well
(within the limitations of the radio itself) as my IC-7000 on HRD.

99th Anniversary of the Titanic Disaster
This event will take place on Saturday, April 9th starting at 1300Z to
Sunday, April 10th ending at 0000Z. The Special Event Station will be
located at the World's Largest Titanic Museum Attraction on Highway 76 in
Branson, MO. April 14, 1912 was the night the Titanic met her demise with a
huge iceberg on her maiden voyage from South Hampton, English. Radio
operators played a large part during this disaster. It was one of the first
times the new international distress call ?SOS? gained popularity by radio
operators around the world.
Three stations will operate simultaneously using SSB,and CW. All stations
will be manned by operators from a consortium of clubs and non-club members
from Southwest Missouri, as well as licensed visitors from outside the area.
All are welcome to come join us in this Special Event, taking it into the
100th Anniversary. A very nice QSL card for each contact. This will continue
each year until it's 100th Anniversary. QSL card information can be found at

Operators at the Titanic Museum will be stationed in full view of the
visitors at it's entrance. A massive media promotion is planned by the
owners of the museum to cover local, regional and news media. Amateur Radio
will be the featured event in this promotion.

Museum in Pigeon Forge, TN. TEN-TEC will be providing 3 new EAGLE radios
plus matching tuners for the operator's use.

I think K2UBC discussed this aspect here on amsat-bb some years ago and
the outcome was "probably not", i.e. there is no proof Yuri G was UA1LO,
which
has been a common belief based some QSL with Gagarin's picture on QSL
from UA1LO whose name happened to be Yuri as well.
Anyhow I had yesterday a QSO on HF with U5ARTEK, a clubstation
whose page on qrz.com shows a picture of Yuri Gagarin operating
from the same club station back in 1960's.
So Yuri has probably been at least a "2nd operator" ;)

made only on CW and not "if need"
On board of Titanic there was only a CW spark transmitter.

I read it as CW will be running split only if there is a need run split,
not that CW would only be used if needed. But either way, what is the

Tks Omar. I don't know for sure if SO-67 is active, but it's scheduled to
turn on at 08/1435Z. But I was on SO-67's freq for the previous pass that
started at 1310Z, and heard a full quieting ragchew between two N4 ops that
continued well past the LOS. I'm assuming that the 435.345 downlink is also
the output of a 70cm repeater located close enough to wipe out the satellite
for me locally.
I'll check it out anyway just to be safe.

Unfortunately I had the VO52 pass at 08/1352Z all to myself when the
ship was in FM01. The downlink was strong, but there were no takers.
My ship was still barely in FM01 when SO67 came up a while later. There
was no QRM on the bird's downlink, so I was all set. But the ship's
engineering department chose that time to test the high pressure foam
system used for extinguishing fires. I normally set up the step ladder
station on the flight deck, but we have a foam cannon (called a
"monitor" for some reason) trained on the deck, and my station was right
in line to get blasted.
Luckily, I was able to get the gear out of the way just in time, but the
fire system test didn't allow me any chance to get set up again before
SO67 went over the hill.
We're now in FM02, the last grid square of this voyage. I'll be on board
until Sunday morning and will be able to make this grid available a few
times through tomorrow evening. I won't be posting a schedule though.
