Is there a logging standard that will make sure that LOTW finds the "match"?
I know the time does not have to be dead-on, but what other fields are a
must? Does anyone know, or is there a document that tells the satellite
community what needs to be in the log? If I work AO-51 for example, what are
the minimum number of fields that must be in the ADI (upload) file?

Hello all,
I'm sure this has been hashed over before, but I'm revisiting the
question of IPhone "app" recommendations for a satellite tracking
program. I've tried "Satellite Tracker" but it doesn't correlate with my
trusted desktop software. It's not even close.
I've see a few others at the App Store, but wanted to get input before
trying them.
Thanks in advance...Bill - N6GHz

PocketSat3. It's expensive, but well worth it IMO. I used the earlier
versions on a Palm Pilot last millennium too :-)

i have an iphone 4 and use both pxsat and satellite tracker. i like
satellite tracker because it is almist identical to the app that came out
years ago for the palm. nice thing about it is the use the gyro built into
phone to show you on the screen when the phone is pointing to the satellite
elevation. great during demos to correlate 30 degrees elevation to an actual
visual... point there.

Bill,
I use Satellite tracker on my iPod quite successfully, the prediction match
up quite nicely with both Satscape & Satpc32. That being said I also have
Pro sat, which I don't particularly like, for me that's the one I can't get
to match up with my Pc based programs. Px sat is nice but doesn't have a sky
view like Sat tracker, It does have an alarm function that pops up a
reminder that a pass is imminent. That is its main purpose for me.
For completeness, I just finally bucked down and paid the $24.99 for Pocket
Sat. I used this one on my old palm pilot, Still have that as a back up when
all else fails). If you've use pocket sat in one of it's other platforms it
will look familiar. The big advantage is the number of birds it can track at
any one time. The one thing it is missing (for me anyway) is on the pass
prediction window, the az of the max elevation. I mount my antenna on an old
telescope mount and need to align the mount so it points to the correct
azimuth at max el. Not a big deal as I can get that from other sources
(mainly Satscape) or deduce it from the start & end AZ.
Can't think of any obvious reasons why your Sat tracker app is not jibing
with other apps. I like it because I can add the frequencies for each bird
and it will show the Doppler correct frequency, helps me know when to tune
(I use an HT for sat ops)
Just my 0.612 Malaysian Ringgits worth. Hope it helps

I had HamSat and Satellite Tracker installed on my iPhone. Both are great.
HamSat gives you a 3D demonstration of real time satellite position as
well as detailed AZ/EL and frequency info based on the location
grabbed by build-in GPS.

Hi all!!
Have been reading the mail regarding the lack of activity on vo-52. Have
made several attempts in the past to work this bird.
Given that the 144 MHz uplink is lsb and the downlink is usb (inverting),
what should I expect in terms of doppler shift?
I would assume that the downlink will shift up (assuming that the bird is
ascending), and down when it is descending (away). Or do I have it backwards?
How much will it shift?
I can hear the bird, and do have the necessary gear.
Thanks,
Norm n3ykf

I think we saw some reports that the beacon was NOT heard...

I have a pass in about one hour now from near Seattle.
Since, I've never used HO-68, is the beacon: Downlink 435.7900 MHz CW ??
Btw, how does the typical beacon signal compare to the typical transponder
signal folks have? Is it louder or same?
Thanks, Joe, AD7D.

Folks
A few minutes after Friday's sale, I had a purchaser change their mind, so
rather than add the spare unit to the next sale, I'm making it generally
available with all proceeds from the sale going towards AMSAT-UK launches.
Although every FUNcube Dongle sold adds to the AMSAT-UK coffers, this
special unit, serial number 200, is sold with the added bonus that your name
or callsign will be etched into the FUNcube spacecraft when it's launched in
the next few months.

Thanks Ted. I uploaded about 30 contacts following those instructions. All
worked fine.
