(Info from WA4NVN)

Damon, WA4HFN, will be on the Grid Line EM85/EM86
on the afternoon AO-51 passes today, October 19th.

Damon has had a difficult time gettng through on the
birds during his trip because of the congestion on
the channels. Those that make the effort to operate from
grids away from home are making a sacrifice so that we
can pick up needed grids. Please give them some airtime
to work as many stations as possible.

When you travel, consider taking your satellite equipment along
and operating as much as you can. You will get an appreciation
of what is involved and you will also be giving out grids to
those working on their VUCC and other awards. Being on the other
end can be both exciting and rewarding.

73,
John k8YSE

Hello,
I would suggest to use DOSBOX, it works fine on many OS.
Don't know if it works properly also on 64bit WIN,
but it is worth a try at least.

The DOS version of PREDICT is feeble compared to the one available
for Unix/Linux systems. Instead of running the DOS version why not
try using Cygwin and the running the Unix version within that
environment. Cygwin gives you Unix style facilities without
installing Unix/Linux.

I use a Tohtsu CX-600NL on XP20s to switch between 2 power dividers. I
have seen these also used in an arrangement with only one divider
and 2 relays. RFparts has them.

Is there some sort of IDLE / switch over / recovery time after
AO-27 does it's telemetry dump
before you can get back into the FM repeater?

I have strong signals S9+30+ going into the telemetry dump -- and
then it appears to be dead after it finishes.

AO-27's schedule basically works as follows: when it turns on it transmits
roughly 30 seconds of data, activates the repeater for 7 or so minutes, then
another 90 seconds of data before shutting off. If it appears to be dead
afterwords (ie you can't hear yourself on the bird with a 2nd radio or in
full duplex) then you caught it on the tail end of the schedule. Goto
AO27.org for the current schedule or download the Scheduler at
http://sites.google.com/site/ao27satellitescheduler/ and generate your own
schedule predictions.

Hi Bruce,

No, the telemetry dump at the end is the end of its scheduled transmit time.
This also happens at the beginning too. Check out www.ao27.org for more info
on the schedule.
