Dave, Trouble is, I could still hear them when ISS had dropped behind
my hill and also when the footprint was way beyond my QTH. When I go
back out to my radio barn, I'll check my time sync. ~Larry

Greetings to the list,

The 53rd Jamboree on the Air is coming up on October 16th and 17th and many
groups who are hosting events for Scouts are going to attempt to do
satellite contact demos. These contacts always stir up lots of excitement
for the Scouts present. As a person who is leading up a JOTA event at the
National Scouting Museum in Irving, Texas as K2BSA/5, I would like to
request as much leeway as possible be given on those dates for Scout groups,
especially on the FM birds. Many of these portable stations will be using
HTs and Arrow/Elk antennas and just will lose out on things if they get
buried by high power, fixed stations.

The whole purpose of JOTA is to expose the Scouting community to the
excitement of Ham radio and we want to present as positive an image as we
can on that weekend.

I know this is just one guys opinion and I also know that this mailing list
only goes to a small percentage of Hams involved with Satellite
communications, but hopefully it will help to keep things sane on that
weekend.

I thank you all for your time and consideration in reading this and hope you
get involved with a JOTA location near you. These kids are our future in
the hobby.

Hi Bob, W7LRD

The diameter of each ball for the bearing of a KR500 is 0.312" or 5 / 16
inch
or 7.9375 mm. I suggest you to remove both stainless steel bearing holders
throw it away and add 2 or 3 more balls in each bearing in order to replace
the room of the holders teeth. I did it but I do not remember exactly if I
added 2 or 3 more balls. Fill the bearing wrinkles of the rotor housing with
black dense molibdene grease and pull the balls in it.It works very well for
me from many years now.

If you are planning to attend the AMSAT 2010 Space Symposium, please
remember that the cutoff date for the $79 room rate at the Holiday Inn is
September 24th.

Hi,
Does anybody know whether the Wouxun dual bander can be configured for a
cross band repeater.
Alternatively, can someone point me in the right direction where I might
find the information,
Regards

I had this same issue with Orbitron a couple weeks ago. I was getting my
kep updates from celestrak.com, then I switched to stoff.pl and it is
working fine.

Do you mean cross band repeater operating, or do you mean split frequency
operation (xmit on 2m and listen on 440) to work the birds? The Wouxun does
do split frequency operating, but it does not have the cross band repeater
function.
