Satscape never worked for me . I wasn't able to get the times right . It
was running like a hour behind and I wasn't able to find a option to set
the time zones on .

The old version never worked and the new Java version won't install.
Orbitron is still the best freebe out there or my "standard", InstantTrack.

And if they have an APRS radio and change their SYMBOL to the
lighthouse symbol, then we can see them on http://aprs.fi

Or, if enough of them select the Lighthouse symbol, then you can
see them on:

http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/symbol.cgi?icon=\L&limit=200

And, they can all communicate with each other and anyone else on
the planet's APRS radio by sending an APRS message to CQSRVR
with the first two words of the message being "CQ LOTA ..."

AN easy way to make contact.

I went to http://www.satscape.info/modx/index.php?id=50
and had java replace Satscape and now it works fine. Scott Hather
moved his web site and Satscape was still looking for the old one
for updates with no luck.

As for Satscape for JAVA never working, my first installation three or
so years ago
went fine. When I installed it on another mac a year or so later, I
saw the problem with times being off
and I corrected the problem by copying a satscape folder from the first
machine to
the new one. I never figured out how to fix it in the user settings.

Dave,

I just checked and the classic version is still available for download on
the Satscape website.

Now for the issue I have with the java version: I just re-downloaded it to
correct the issue with the website move. In both this and the previous
version I had, there is no HO-68. I know it's a new bird, but gotta figure
the keps would be in there. Anyone have any ideas?

All,

Just a quick note. I noticed that one month ago I made my first contact on
Satellites (W6AJP on AO51). Since then I've made 50 contacts, including 3
Countries, 11 States and 33 Grids.

I want to thank everyone who worked me for their patience while I learn the
ropes. I've been having a lot of fun with this and hope to work a lot more
of you in the future.

I have got the same issues here - it starts to load and then says "unable to
launch application". Maybe just give it a few days and it will clear up. I
very rarely use Satscape.... I am hooked on Orbitron. It seems to be a bit
more user-friendly.

The Problem has to do with the migration of the Satscape website:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/SatscapeNews

Redownload the program from the website:
http://www.satscape.info/modx/index.php?id=50 and it will point to the
correct location. Your settings will be preserved.

Good morning all!

Was approached via e-mail for some help from a local university: the person
explained to me that there is a sort of CubeSat local project on the works
(now on design) and he wanted to know how to make an antenna system for
VHF/UHF for the sat. It's measurements is 4x4x4. Can write to me off the
reflector.

Thanks in advance,

I will be leaving CN81 tomorrow morning and heading for CN70 grid for a day or
two. CN70 doesnt have much landmass, so suspect it is a rare grid? Sofar
passes havent favored anything to the east, due to the time the birds are
within
range of me..too darn early in am. Here in CN81 I am surrounded by large Pine
trees, so paths havent been that good either, so hopefully along the beaches
of
CN70 I'll have more of an open shot, without hitting any Sea Gulls.

I have a 2 meter cross polarized yagi array. Not sure of the make, possibly
a Cushcraft. The driven elements are folded dipoles and the measured SWR is
currently 1.5:1 (most resonant) at the uplink frequencies for the birds.
Since there is no mechanical matching device, how does one tune for the
lowest SWR?? The coaxial baluns and the antenna are in good condition and
look to be original, The matching transformer is a small barrel type and is
also in good condition. Certainly the !.5:1 SWR is usable and with a preamp
signals will be good most of the time. But the current value is like a
Nat.. it bugs me. Any assistance or direction to other documentation (
exhausted the web) would be much appreciated. Off the BBS replies will be
fine as it will keep the daily listings shorter.
Thanks,

Rick,

I don't know why you had trouble with HO68. It took a few days to show
up in my list (on the Java version). I kept checking in settings
->groups -> amateur. Then one day it was there and I clicked on it and
checked the favorites box.

Dave

Dave,

I just checked and the classic version is still available for download
on
the Satscape website.

Now for the issue I have with the java version: I just re-downloaded it
to
correct the issue with the website move. In both this and the previous
version I had, there is no HO-68. I know it's a new bird, but gotta
figure
the keps would be in there. Anyone have any ideas?

Rick,

I am using Java version. It is complaining about a required field
<jnlp> missing from the launch file.

I find that I can't get to www.satscape.co.uk so maybe Satscape is not
able to update itself.

I would be interested in getting the classic version from you.

Thanks,
Dave W8IJ

Dave,

Are you using the Java Version or the Classic version?

Personally, I prefer the classic. If you need I have a copy.
